I am revising my post from the other day, here is my new proposal.

Anaheim Trades
Lopina (AHL) - (Chi)

Chicago Trades
PKane (*+) - (Ana)(Tor)
Domi - (Tor)
Blackwell (Tor)

Toronto Trades
Kerfoot - (Chi)
Engvall - (Chi)
NRobertson (LTIR) - (Chi)
Clifford (AHL) -(Chi)
Voit (OHL) - (Chi)
1st Round Pick 2024 - (Chi)
4th Round Pick 2024 - (ANA)

*Chicago retains 50% of PKane's expiring contract.

+Anaheim retains 25% of PKane's expiring contract.

As much as improving Defense on The Leafs is something I would rather do, I don't believe with the cost and what's out there it can happen.

Really shores up The Forwards though for Toronto, and Chicago gets some much needed prospects for their rebuild including a 1st Round Pick in 2024, Anaheim is The third Team needed to get PKane's cap hit down enough to fit in Toronto's cap.

Just don't see Chicago biting on it. They would have to be pretty high on Robertson and Voit. And we would need to be sending more if Domi is being included as he is having a great year. My question is where do you put these guys in the lineup? Who gets bumped down or out of the lineup all together?

Projected lineup after my proposal.

Domi
Matthews
PKane

Bunting
Tavares
Marner

Jarnkrok
O'Reilly
Nylander

Aston-Reese
Kampf
Acciari

Blackwell (Depth)

Also once Knies comes onboard I would slide him on LW with O'Reilly and Nylander, drop Jarnkrok with Kampf and Acciari with Aston-Reese joining Blackwell for Depth for The Playoffs as adding Knies would be at playoff time.

So it does work imo.

So you're going to separate the line that literally just had a combined 13 point night for what reason? I'd be leaving that line alone.

You slide Nylander who is having a good year production wise to the third line where he is going to get less touches on the puck which isn't the greatest considering he doesn't do well off the puck or if he's isn't getting touches.

Bunting has been great of late so a demotion to a lower line seems unlikely.

Does it give us more fire power up front, absolutely. Does it make us a tougher team to play against, debatable.

The old saying goes "defense wins championships" and this just makes us more offensive.

Our defense will still be iffy and our goaltending will be the same.

I think our forward group is what it is with maybe Engvall or Kerfoot being dealt for a more defensive hard nosed forward.

If you watched Keefe speak after The Buffalo game he said he plans on having Tavares back at Centre, that tells me more moves are coming.
In today's NHL there might already be a trade done but the players involved sometimes have to approve a deal with NMC contracts like PKane and Kerfoot have, plus I do believe teams also have class to inform a player a bit before trading them.
Some are obvious by sitting them out.
But yes I believe another trade is coming and with Dubas going this far, why not go all the way and try to grab PKane and Domi if you can.

Doesn't say much for our coach than separating that line. Like I said adding them adds to our offense but I don't think it would be enough to push us over the top come playoffs because playoff hockey is a completely different game to the regular season.

Adding PKane and Domi gives Toronto playoff type players along with O'Reilly, they have proven to be playoff players.
What Team would want to have wave after wave of talent like that on forward?
They will grind down any Team in the league.

- hey Pinball, kudos to you for actually revising your trade (for the 3rd or 4th time? ) and indicating where the players are actually going to end up. (Kinda hard to tell for those of us that don’t live in “Pinball World”)

It makes a lot easier to follow your scattered logic with including this information. Well done??

- OTT traded a 2nd and 7th to clear Zaitsev’s 1 year/ 4.5M cap hit.

- CHI will get a better offer, and asks you to get that garbage off their lawn.

?
? Homer Deals.

Maybe Chicago gets a better deal, maybe they don't.
All I know is expect both Kane and Domi traded by March 3.
They would love to improve getting a higher draft pick and Kane and Domi aren't helping that out, to many wins lately because of those 2 especially Kane.

All you know is what you want for your team Pinball. That’s why your hockey opinions meet such resistance, and why you can never accept them.

Like I said, great offensively. Do you want to know why that Chicago team was successful for all those years? Exceptional defense and hard nosed forwards. Kane obviously played great as well. But so did Toews, Buff, Laad, Bickell, and all those guys who played a grind it out nose to the grind stone playoff hockey.

That Carolina team had great run because again they had exceptional defense and pretty good goaltending. Domi did well providing 3rd maybe 4th option scoring for them.

The Leafs have more than enough scoring though. What we need to worry about is our overall team defense and being hard to play against. Three lines of scoring sounds great until it's time to play physical and we can't match it at all. Coaches would have a field day knowing they could play physical and nothing is going to happen in response.
