Check out Demko’s numbers. Petersen has put up good numbers in the nhl before and he has one less year on his deal. VAN gets a first and solid prospect while getting a quality goalie back.

Maybe switch him out with Anderso-Dolan.

Sens dumped Murray for a 3rd along with 25% retention. So I don’t think the cost to dump Petersen would be that bad especially if there taking back another big contract in Demko. VAN doesn’t get much worse after the trade so I don’t see it as a rebuilding move.

Yeah that's true, i agree with your logic but in my opinion I value Demko a lot more though. I just think he's a solid goalie. I'd love to hear what Canucks and Kings fans would say to this though.

This is one take I absolutely disagree with. Petersen is making 5+ million in the AHL you don’t send a 5 million dollar player to the minors unless they are awful. Cal Petersen at one time was a NHL goalie but not anymore. He doesn’t belong in the big leagues and it was Rumoured it would cost Brandt Clarke to dump his contract.

Maybe I’m underestimating how bad Petersen has been. But goalies regularly don’t have much value so getting a 1st and a decent prospect along with one less year of 5M for Demko is a good return IMO.

You are vastly underestimating Petersens negative value. It’s literally 5 million dollars of dead cap.

LA also has a hall of fame goalie and another that has gone 19-4-2. Petersen would make VAN’s team. It’s a risk for sure to trade for him but it could be worth it.
