*Marner would have to both waive his NMC and do a sign and trade otherwise this trade proposal can't happen.
NJ gets the best player in this proposal is why they would do it, all 4 played for Keefe last season with The Leafs so it helps also next season with his first year as coach.
Leafs can really never win a trade trading an elite player like Marner, but it gives them more Cap flexibility to improve as much as possible, all 3 players are solid players and getting the 10th Overall will help in getting a Top prospect in this years draft.

Thats so nice of you to come up with a trade proposal that would leave New Jersey with $9.5 million in cap space to sign 6 more roster players including replacements for Holtz, Mercer and Nemec and a starting goalie :)
I mean sure, 2 of those players they're getting from Toronto are RFAs but even if they get signed for what they'll ask for, that still leaves about $5 million to find a stating goalie and round out the bottom 6 and bottom pair D right? Totally doable and exactly what their plan has been all along.
I especially like the part where you tried to make this sound like you're doing New Jersey a favor by trading for 2 of their future best players in Nemec and Mercer by saying that with Marner they're actually the ones getting the best player in this proposal.
And I mean we've all heard the rumors that the Devils are looking to acquire a top 6 forward right? All those rumors about looking for a starting goalie and showing interest in Markstrom, Ullmark and Saros are probably just fake news to distract from their real target which has been Marner all along.
And you even included the 10th overall pick too! :) that's so awesome Pinball. You know after the disappointing season Devils fans just went through watching the team finish bottom 10, I think what the fanbase really wants more than a starting goalie to round out their already complete team is to throw their whole future away for 1 year of Mitch Marner. I'm glad you took the time to look at this from the Devils fans perspectives as well.
I'd give this a 9.5 out of 10 for creativity, it would have been a perfect 10 but you forgot to include Robertson which I'm honestly surprised by since you rarely leave him out of your trades.

"Marner will not be traded, everyone seems to forget a few things.
First of all Treliving isn't trading an elite forward for a package like that, he is too smart to pull that proposal, Treliving is looking to get better not worse and trading Marner doesn't make them better.
Second Marner has stated he is playing out his final year of his contract with TORONTO, he has a NMC in his contract and he has complete control of being traded.
Thirdly The Leafs have 19,405.333 million in Cap Space to improve, players like Cowan, Grebyonkin and Quillan or Minton are options at forward if they focus on Defense and or Goaltending.
Marner didn't have a very good playoff we all know that, but in the previous playoffs he did perform.
Trust me when I say Marner won't be traded, he won't. "

Jesus man. NJ is literally a goalie away from being back in the playoffs. Honestly if Hughes hadn't got hurt they probably would've been in there this year. If Treliving got offered this he would take it and disconnect the phones before NJ could call back with second thoughts.

Don't listen to the haters Pinball. I think you're really good at these trades.
You always find a way to identify a team need for the Leafs like left handed defensemen or 36 year old franchise centers, and when it comes to packaging RFAs and late 1st round picks nobody does it better than you.
Whether it's Kopitar, Laine, Chychrun, or anyone else the Leafs have no use for, you're always finding a way to trade Liljegren, Robertson, and Dewar for the best return possible. ?

Because man all of them are cost controlled. We have paid four players $10mill plus and it has gotten us one trip to the second round. Not every team wants to add a big massive contract while giving up players that are cost controlled.

NJD definitely hold. Those players are really young and will be good players. It comes down this question:
Is it better to over pay for 1 really good player?
Or
Have slightly less talented players, but still play well with each other?
I think the 1 line toronto experiment is over. NJD say no.

Marner is a fine player but the value people think he will garner is not in touch with reality.
1st he is a small player that disappears when it matters (fact)
2nd he has a huge contract (that alone diminishes returns)
3rd he is not a center (the massive returns expected come from dominant 2 way centers, not soft wingers)
4th he has a NTC and controls the destination (without an extension his value is less that my 2nd point)
