Utah is an a obvious pickle and this type of proposal helps both Teams imo.
Yes once DeWar, Jarnkrok and Hakanpaa are ready to be activated to get under the cap more moves will be forced, but until then this is something I believe Toronto as well as Utah will be looking at.

If leafs want to unload contracts, they add, not get a good player in return. Liljgren is a mid round and Roberson less. Like trying to unload jarnkrok and kampf for a top 6 with better salary you're always trying to sell. Lilgren has upside but he's a old prospect. Roberson has upside but they need to show their worth.

I doubt they unload Crouse. But you're not wrong about Utah being the ideal trade partner. I'd explore the idea of a deal around McBain for Liligren. Picks involved I'm sure, but we get a big body upfront that opens up the potential of unloading some more players for lower end picks. Utah addresses their backend issue for the time being. Maybe Lily hits his stride once he's moved ??‍♂️.

Hey @chickenfoot feel free to rip me apart. Lilijgren has really fallen out of favour of Craig Berube. He’s the 6th/ 7th D in the system and a team like San Jose would give a mid round pick for him probably but that’s all he’s getting.

Personally I do really like him and hope he stays on the leafs tho IF berube decides to play him.

Pinball…so you’re offering up a 6-7 D (who has gotten in one game this year) and a guy with zero points on the season who is already on a “prove it” contract…. and you’re offering it up for a guy with 3 twenty goal seasons who is part of the core that Utah is building?

Sounds about right for a Pinball trade.

The leafs get a player, and Utah gets fringe NHL’ers without so much as a sweetener or salary retention.

The only thing good about this trade is that for once you spared Kampf from being included in a trade proposal.

What could he have possibly done to deserve to be taken off the trade block though?

Last week he was an essential piece of a Granlund trade but today, the Leafs don't even need to include Kampf in order to acquire Crouse, who is a better player than Granlund at this point in their careers.
