Wondering if this makes sense for both teams:
Habs trade with ny rangers
Mtl sends :
Mike Matheson 4.85 per
To rangers for :
Trouba (8 million per) and Gabe Perrault
Rangers get a solid defence at a discount and save money on troubas 8million per but costs them Perrault
Habs get great offensive prospect with ties to the team and also get trouba which I would either pair with Hutson to protect him and let him fly out there or pair him with xhejaj to have probably the most physically scary pair in the league

I think something like this could work, but perhaps with a different prospect.
The Habs have some talented smaller guys, but if you’re serious about building towards a championship, you can’t have too many smaller guys.

not the worst trade, but your not getting perrault in that trade. my guess is a draft pick . probably a second!

- If it was Matheson for a 1st and 2nd I think it would be a no from MTL.
- A 1st and a prospect that can play now is more valuable to where the Habs are now. (They already have so many picks, they need players. )

Chickenfoot. I agree but the rangers are not trading one of their top prospects for in a salary dump. maybe a lesser prospect that still might be NHL ready might get it done.

Wingsfan: are you saying Matheson is a salary dump?

no i am saying trouba is the salary dump.

Wingsfan: gotcha.
I think the Rangers will pay a proper/ hefty price to rid themselves of Trouba if it means rescuing this season and putting themselves in the position to make a run. Competing GMs smell the blood in the water and know that Drury is under a lot of pressure from ownership. Unless he fixes this he won't be in the job by season's end.

i agree but trouba has 1 year left, they will have to pay a price. but i just don't think they are trading one of their top 2 or 3 prospects to do it unless its a significant upgrade to what they have.
