Those hawks have cap issues and it looks like one of their big pieces is on the move. Hossa does not have a no-trade clause and at 35, may have just had his last 30 goal campaign last yr. The Habs are a winger away from going past the 1st round of the playoffs so the trade is as follows:

To Montreal
RW - Marian Hossa (5.275 mil/yr)

To Chicago
C - Lars Eller (2.275 mil/yr)
2nd Round Pick (2016)
2nd Round Pick (2016) from Buffalo

It gets CHI out of cap trouble. MTL has Hossa for 3yrs than trade him to a cap floor team for a 5th rd. pick in 2018 (1 mil/yr salary - 5.275 mil/yr cap hit). NYI loves those contracts. Thoughts?

Can get a better return of prospects or players on their elc for a guy like hossa.

2.) 12 Jul 2014
Stan Bowman laughs and hangs up soon as he hears Hossa for Lars El-CLICK

3.) 13 Jul 2014
Hawks have zero leverage and need to get under the cap fast. Hossa is a pinch overrated at 35. They get a reasonable return in Eller and two picks.

4.) 13 Jul 2014
There are more reasonable moves CHI could make that won't make as big a dent in their team (ie moving Leddy or a bottom-6er)

5.) 13 Jul 2014
Hossa is staying and I'm pretty sure you mean UNDERrated. Even at his age he's one of the best defensive forwards in the league. Take Sharp instead.

I think Eller makes or breaks it this season. great potential to be a complete two-way forward in this league
