Just an idea for the Flyers to clear some cap.

Yakupov and Gryba
for
B Schenn and L Schenn

Both Schenns haven't found footing in Philly, Yak could be a potential top LW with G and Voracek, B Schenn can play center with McDavid out and play wing when he comes back. L Schenn and Gryba contracts expire after this year, Schenn is better than Gryba but Gryba makes the cap work.

Shattenkirk
for
Streit, 1st, 3rd

Philly gets that #1 D which St. Louis would have a hard time resigning, Streit has next year left on his contract and can help the Blues win now. And with the way the Flyers are playing the 1st pick would probably be between 6-12.

MacDonald (salary retained)
for
Arizona 6th

MacDonald can play on this defense and manage to make them better for a low pick and Arizona wouldn't have trouble taking some of his cap.

Lecavalier (possible salary retained)
for
Carolina 6th

With Eric Staal up in question, Vinny could fill in on a low line where after this year the bottom 6 of Carolina would be made up of low talent prospects. If Staal resigns, Flyers will retain salary. There just isn't a spot for Vinny in Philly.

And. The Blues get shafted HARD ! He's the QB on the power play, and there's NO WAY that they will just give Shattenkirk away for that package !

Yeah I think Shattenkirk would command more also I don't think streit is good enough to crack the top 4 and not really help on bottom pairing. But gunnerson is on the block probably a lot cheaper.

So you want to retain salary in the MacDonald trade, possibly retain salary in the Lecavalier trade, AND sign Shattenkirk who will probably want over $7mil? Where do you find the cap space with $900 of free cap right now? And how do you resign Yakupov? Jesus Christ nothing you're proposing makes any sense.

Retain 2 million each from Mac and Vinny contracts, that frees up 5.5 million cap (5 mil + 4.5 mil - 4 mil retained) . Plus the 1 mil from the Shat/Streit trade, that's 6.5 mil freed in cap. If Shat gets 7 million, that's an added 2.75 million on his current cap (6.5 - 2.75 = 3.75 left in cap) Add on the roughly 900K in current cap, that gives 4.65 million to work with to sign Yakupov from his current cap of 2.5 million, who at this point I seriously doubt will will get 7 million a year. Maybe in three years if he lives up to his drsft status and hype. It's addition and subtraction, try it before claiming I'm not making sense.

Edmonton wouldn't give up Gryba. They would go Niktin and a 2nd or Fayne and a 4th.
