Wash: Johansson, Schmidt, 2017 2nd,
tor: JVR

Good trade because JVR ain't doing anything and the caps players are young which would be good for leafs rebuild. This also gives caps better depth in the playoffs.

I see no reason for WAS to change up their top 6. Depth in the bottom 6 or on D perhaps, but that's too much to move just to put JVR in the bottom 6. Deal makes no sense to me.

@chirp

They move out Johansson for JVR because he's a free agent after this season therefore it helps the caps for playoffs and so they don't lose value from free agency and it would help Toronto offensively and defensively.

I agree with chirps reasoning but JVR is worth more than this. Remember that 2nd rounder is probably going to be pick 56-60. Not the greatest.

WAS is soaring high right now in their top-6, why mess with a good thing? I can see depth moves in the bottom-6, like depth scoring or a C for face offs to retain possession, but tossing a cog into what is a highly effective scoring sextet makes no sense to me. Depth D and maybe snagging a goalie from the overloaded Ducks might make sense, but that's about it.

"JVR ain't doing anything" - Funny, he is on pace for 30 G 60 P while playing with Bozak and PA. Not to mention a solid defensive player. get your head out of your as.

If JVR is going to Washington you can bet either samsonov or bowey is coming back.
