Edm: Simmons, Umberger, Streit

Phi: Eberle, Purcell retain 25%, Fayne, Nikitin, 3rd

Why: Edm can use a player like simmons, a veteran in streit who can actually run a power play, also umberger and streit are ufa's in 2017 so nothing long term on cap will use that money to sign yak and drasalts that year

Phi: gets a cap relief sooner as purcell and nikitin are ufa's this year, get a top 6 six forward in eberle, down side fayne isn't a ufa till 2018 but unloading some big money in the short term also phi still remains competitive to make the playoffs.

No. And let me tell you why. Simmonds is better than Eberle because they both can put up similar scoring numbers, but Simmonds is on a MUCH friendlier cap deal. And what Simmonds brings to the Flyers (leadership, physical presence, board play) can't be replaced by any of those players. And I'd rather watch MacDonald play on the blueline than Fayne for the next couple years. Another point is that Sam Gagner has historically put up very similar numbers to Purcell, and he can't make it in the lineup, so I doubt Purcell would. And even with retaining some of the salary, Gagner still has a lower cap hit and his deal also expires this year. Doesn't make much sense for the Flyers.
