Ok #yzerman19 you see Trouba as Doughty obviously so besides the Leafs what package would be fair from say Boston or Arizona would be a fair Trade?
If the Leafs Traded Rielly and plus because you said start with Rielly do honestly think that's a good Trade for the Leafs?
If so how can you justify it unless you're the Jets.

Okay now to contribute to the actual post haha
I don't do that as the Leafs gm, Gardiner is very underrated and is a good #3 if not better, Carrick has the potential to be a top 4 guy with upside. holland is just a contract, Trouba can barely put up 20 points a season and sure a good defensive player but will not contribute to the leafs future like carrick and gardiner can. also stuart is a cap dump don't need him.

Big Z Gardiner is a #3 on his absolute best days. He's one of those guys who always has the talent to be great, but just doesn't put his money where his mouth is.

I know i'm going to get blasted for this but would nylander or marner be a good starting point for trouba if Toronto absolutely had to have him. I would assume that picks would have to balance that out a bit since one is elc and the other wants a big contract.

I disagree with that KingsLover, I've watched gardiner grow from being that kid ho couldn't play defence or threw a pizza up the middle every other play, to a a player who is great in his defensive end (other than that occasional give away leading to a goal haha), amazing possession player and a guy who can put up 30+ points. which as I said is a good #3, but on his best days he can drive possession and be stellar defensively. But again he isn't a top pairing D man, hope fully he can become one but haha he's already 26 so who knows.

Ok, so maybe i am nuts! But has anybody considered the following;

Wpg
Trouba and one of the goalies (probably hutch or comrie)

To

Pit
Fluery and Pouliot.

Pit will probably have to move him soon or risk loosing murray to the expansion draft. They also are barely dressing Pouliot (healthy scratch often)

Jets move disgruntled player and get much needed improvement in goal.
