Word is Montreal isn't going to extend pacciorety. They are going to trade Him ASAP

Montreal: Pacciorety
Penguins: Carl Hagelin, Zach Aston Reese, 2019 2nd, 2019 4th, Conditional 2021 2nd (if Pacciorety resigns)

Or
Montreal: Pacciorety, conditional 2019 4th ( if pacciorety doesn't resign, pick becomes 3rd)
Wild: Erickson Ek, 2019 1st

Pacciorety value is at a low. Coming off a terrible season(for him), 1year left, and teams know that Montreal isn't going to resign him, so they have to trade him

Montreal would pass on both of those. But it’s MB so you never know.

It’s terrible asset management. They make it known they don’t want him. That loses leverage anyway, but then to hold a press conference preaching attitude and character over skill, then next time news comes out of MBs office it’s saying patches isn’t welcome back. So not only did they lose leverage, but now they raise red flags about pacciorettys character (that may or may not be true) to some teams that otherwise might have been interested. Some teams will not inquire about him, or offer far less if they think he could be a problem.

Like Sens holding onto Hoffman for a better offer at the deadline, knowing all this dressing room crap was going on, and then sold him at pennies on the dollar when it hit the news. But this isn’t media releasing a bad story, this is MB devaluing his own captain lol.

Think the Minnesota one isn't bad, get a 1st and a decent player, think that's really all they can expect at this point. Be better if it was expected to be a higher pick. Maybe a little more especially if there's a contract agreement.

No Jim it's mostly media. You should know about that.

With regards to Hoffman if the Sens did know about this they would have had to disclose this info to the other teams they were trying to trade him to. and if for some reason they could lie that they didn't know and get away with it it would still be frowned upon by all the other gms the same way an offer sheet is when it did come out.

There has been 500 pacioretty rumors this summer by people claiming to have a source but none have actually happened. People must remember the media in montreal is bad when things are going well look out when they are not.

Not enough from Pittsburgh and too much from Minnesota IMO.

too much from pittsburgh
and i'd say yes from minnesota provided the 1st is lottery protected (close 2019 or 2020)

The Pitt trade is atrocious for Montreal.
The minny trade I can’t see them making that at all.

If that's what i'm getting for patches in keeping him ans hoppin to extended or get more at dealine. But not worth lettint him for hopes. Need something now if in letting e0 goals walk out this season.

@Habby, I don’t think there’s any rule about disclosing wife drama like a physical injury lol but even if they were to disclose it in private trade talks, it would have been a lot better for Dorian to talk to chirelli or whoever and say “the dressing room is split, 1 of 2 guys has to go, hoffman is one of them, what’s your offer? ” And move him then.

Because instead, they played hardball, it hits the fan, now a media circus is going to follow him, as where if he was traded 1500 miles away before it went public, karlssons wife maybe wouldn’t have had to follow through on the legal stuff. And Sens fan base wouldn’t have more ammo to hurl at Dorian and Melnyk for losing yet another trade.

And if there’s this many rumblings of a fractured relationship between paccioretty and the habs management, there’s a decent chance that more concrete evidence of that could come out in the coming weeks. And depending what that info is, could affect his trade value. Don’t want to be like the senators, no one wants to be like the senators right now lol.

Yes jim but I think we can both agree that there is usually a lot more goes on behind the scenes that me or you or any of the insiders know. Sometimes you got to ask yourself who is this source that everyone talks about? Sources close to a team that could actually leak true info would not do so because if they were caught they would be fired. why would someone in that situation leak info to a 2nd rate reporter so he could put it in a newspaper for everyone to see. i'm sure a few things about pacioretty may have some merit but I'm willing to bet 99% don't it's purely speculation based on what people think will happen. With regards to Hoffman if Dorian and crew knew there was a chance karlsons wife was considering pressing charges against Hoffmann (wife) then yes this would have to been brought to the attention of the other team.

If there is a fractured relationship it's because patch wants more on his new deal then montreal wants to pay. Pretty simple really and that happens a lot it's just this being a more then usual boring summer with not much to talk about it's being blown up in montreal. Notice when everyone though karlsson would be traded last week there was zero talk about pacioretty lol. or when the tavares saga was going on. People looking for news is all it is. The same thing is going on that has been since last December with pacioretty his name is out there and bergevin is listening to offers. If he gets an offer he likes he will trade him. you can paint it in any way you like but we all said the same things about duchene and sakic done pretty good in that deal. As of now if patch doesn't resign he will be a ufa after this year and will be traded as such. So does he have more trade value now or if he was resigned at 8 year 8 mil per? My guess is he has more value now. Does that mean the habs will get huge haul for him. Probably not. But they should be able to get something that will help them moving forward. Picks or prospects is my hope.

Yeah. I think The Athletic is a pretty good outlet, seem to have some connections and smart people employed. But It’s not criminal charges that she brought against them. It’s a protection order saying she can’t contact her. It’s a civil matter. Cody Ceci’s wife threw a flaming bottle of gasoline on a another woman (accidentally, but what else can possibly happen in Ottawa this summer?!?! ) and the woman was fighting for her life and she has had like 15 or 20 surgeries. Almost guaranteed a lawsuit will come from that too but again it will be a civil matter, no criminal charges and I doubt it has to be disclosed.

Regardless, we will see. Paccioretty has said he wants to stay and a as willing to sign 8 years (Montreal Gazette) but when he’s traded, more of the story will come out, and I’m willing to bet that a real story of a very fractured relationship will emerge.

It could happen jim I'm not going to rule that out. I just think at this time it's just more of a contract thing then anything else. could Possibly be friction between patch and other players on team though. This summer seems more rampant with loose rumors and texts from sources which have been proven wrong then other years to me. i think it comes from this years uneventful draft and mediocre free agent class making very few headlines. To me now unless I hear straight from bob mckenzie or elliote friedman I don't even listen to it.

But on the note of things being disclosed everything is suppose to be disclosed that you are aware of concerning the player your trading. legal matters drinking or partying habits, locker room feuds injuries etc. all could be assumed to affect the players performance as could the legal matter. Off ice issues can be a wide range of things if the other gm asks about a players situation. when trade negotiations are taking place how often do you think the other gm asks why are you trading him? How's that knee injury? Is there any truth about these rumors? A Gm don't just say we'll he's a good player let's see if we can get him, without doing their homework first. I remember when the habs traded mike riberio for janne ninnima there was hardly any talk of riberios drinking problem at the time but gainey had to disclose that info to other Gms and that's the only offer he got. i know it's not the same as the Hoffman case but gainey could have kept quiet about it and got another deal elsewhere and just waited for the other team to find out. But I'm pretty sure the other team then could have filed a grievance to the league and got compensated.
