Been working on this one since prior to the Laine Signing & Bjorkstrand Trade. CLB gets better Defensively and CAR gets another High Scoring FINN. CAR should trade Ethan Bear to try & acquire Jesse Puljujarvi in a 3-way Trade, since I doubt Bear will go back to EDM

I missed the Bjorkstrand trade. I'd guess Columbus' next move is to sign Kadri or maybe, just maybe trade for Miller.

gaudreau - Kadri - Laine

They'll score some points but how many more will they give up?
Who's going to be the line's defensive conscience?
Who's going to go into corners, battle for pucks and go to the net?

Kadri isn't defensively responsible like Lindholm and even if was he can't be everywhere at once playing defensively, going to the net, forechecking, battling for pucks in the corners / along the boards and stirring things up all at the same time.

little johnny and Laine sure aren't going to be doing any of those things. They won't be hitting either.

Agreed. Johnny did us a favour by leaving and won’t be able to replicate his success down there with the Centre’s and lack of Defensive play they have.

Have Fun running around your own D-Zone Gaudreau!

Miller is from Ohio btw.

Gotta wonder if Bonehead Brad even bothered looking contracts up or if he just looked at their stats this year and said HELL YEAH!

Treliving's much better than you give him credit for @Mox; can't help or control if guys don't want to stick around. He's smart and will re-sign Huberdeau since we can afford too and FLA couldn't

Huberdeau > than both Gaudreau & Tkachuk

Who will be our next RW Star? Mangiapane, Toffoli, Dube, Ruzicka or Phillips could all surprise us this year OR Treliving could make another Big Trade for a 1C (moving Lindholm back to RW) or 1RW

Things are looking up for Calgary!

The Flames never would have been in this situation in the first place if Treliving was competent.

gaudreau should've been traded long before he walked for nothing.
At the very least his signing rights should have been traded before the trade deadline.
Better yet he should have been traded when he wouldn't resign last summer especially since he refused to negotiate during the season.
A year ago it was obvious to everyone but Treliving gaudreau was not going resign in Calgary but Treliving decided to gamble that enough money would change the little weasel's mind.
All that could have been avoided if Treliving had been bright enough to little johnny after the 99 point season followed by his annual playoff disappearing act.

Treliving got nothing at all for gaudreau, Giordano, Brodie.
Treliving got a very underwhelming return for Bennett.
Treliving continually lowballs top UFAs (and his own best RFAs too) that are worth paying well, loses them, then overvalues and overpays lesser players (James Neal being one example) .
Treliving has been unable to trade Monahan in spite of having been shopping him for at least 3 years now. The extra cap space would have made a big difference.
Treliving wanted to bring Gio back at the deadline but didn't even know Seattle couldn't retain salary on him if they traded him back to Calgary. It is his job to know that! I knew it, why didn't he?
There are other players he's lost and many more blunders he's made over the years those are just the biggest ones that immediately come to mind.

The Tkachuk deal is a huge gamble. Treliving is gambling he can resign Huberdeau (in particular) and Weegar to long term contracts. If he can -without- overpaying them the Tkachuk trade will turn out ok but if he can't it could turn into another disaster next year. Either way he'll still have lost gaudreau for nothing!

Must be nice to be Perfect @Mox lol

I value you & your opinion a lot, and maybe your pissed off and I don't blame you, but Treliving has done a very good job for us (definitely not on the Neal signing, but hey, you can't win them all) .

Gaudreau or his Family snowed Treliving, The Team and The Fans OR in the end it wasn't Gaudreau's decision to make. Tkachuk was honest and worked with Brad to find a Win-Win deal, which is what happened

You've said it yourself that Johnny was too small and wasn't going to lead us to the Promised land and as much as you want Tkachuk on your Team instead of Playing against him, he takes costly Penalties and gets Injured at the worst times. Huberdeau is better than both of them and we have guys coming up and Toffoli from the start of the season, so we could see everyone step up even more this year and Dube could have a breakout season like Verhaghe just did

Finally we're still tied for 6th with EDM as the most likely Team to win the Cup, so Treliving's turning things around and has also Drafted a Good Group of Prospects so lots to look forward too.

Huberdeau is better than little johnny, but not better than Tkachuk.

I don't expect a GM to be perfect but at least competent would be nice.

I'm not upset with Tkachuk, he handled it like a man. I firmly believe there was a very good chance he would have resigned with Calgary if Treliving had handled things better this off season.

Just putting this out there

Monahan centers Huberdeau and gets back to his 30 goal point per game season and this Calgary wins trade

Tkachuk and gaudreau are replaced by Monahan and Huberdeau while upgrading defence and future

Brad you are a jr shark much like your daddy sr shark. Crunch crunch

I’m not a flames fan but oiler fans remember Huberdeau averaged 4 points a game vs Campbell.. lmfao

Enjoy

@JDB It sure would be nice if Monny finally finds his mojo again!

I wouldn't say that'd be winning the trade more like win win for both teams. But if it happens they should be a better team this year than they were last year.

If they can resign Huberdeau they'll be good for at least another year after that. Then they'll need to resign Lindholm but that shouldn't be too difficult since Backlund's contract expires then too.

Unbelievable how petty some people around here are, like the 6 who disagreed Miller is from Ohio.

Look it up!
