1st trade: Honestly, pretty spot on trade IMO. Det could use a Kylington type on their back end, downgrade slightly at the moment and develop Pelletier with their core and gain a 1st. If they're going to let Mantha go, this is a solid offer

2nd trade: While the value is fairly similar I don't see philly going for this as Backlund is a poor mans couturier.

Backlund is better on the pk, is cheaper, is a natural C, and puts up more points. I just made the trade from Calgary’s end for his size and connection to Gaudreau and Tkachuk. While Hayes puts up almost the same amount of points as Backlund. I just thought it would be an idea to keep Gaudreau and Tkachuk in Calgary and to get Gaudreau feeling more comfortable to perform in the playoffs. Wouldn’t anybody do better if they got to play with their best friend whom is also 6’5.

I think Hayes would do well in cgy, he's a bit of a better goal scorer too. That contract is not a pretty as backlunds, and with hopes of competing for a while, keeping cheaper contracts is important.

The first trade is good value. Would have to be a decent value sign and trade.

Both players are RW but they're left shot, Calgary really wants a right shot.

That's too much for Mantha, take out Pelletier or the pick and sure.

Backlund for Hayes, Philly would have to add something. A second round pick would be about right.

Also Calgary doesn't need two guys like that, either one would do. Preferably Mantha since he's the more physical player and *isn't associated with Gaudreau.

The more about I think about that first trade the more I like it.

Reasons:

First off Pelletier though a very nice prospect isn't a RW he's a LW and Calgary is stacked at LW with both current roster players and prospects.

Secondly he's also a little on the small side, like too many Flames players.

Third: I'm not very familiar with Mantha so I just looked up his stats but forgot to take into account how bad Detroit is right now. He's almost certainly a better player than I initially thought.

So in retrospect, I think it could be a good trade for both teams.
