Jets wouldn't trade Laine for this group of players as Domi will be a free agent who will want a huge contract and Kotkaniemi is still a big? as to how good he'll be.

I think Winnipeg thinks about it. It helps centre depth for sure. Can always package the first and something for a defenseman.

This kills mtl centre depth though. I don't think danault/ suzuki is their 1-2 punch next year.

Big no from Habs. Not because of the over payment but because it depletes the Centre position too much. If it were say Domi + Drouin + 1st 2021 sure or Suzuki + 1st 2021 + 3rd sure or Kotkaniemi + 1st 2021 + Lehkonen again sure.

But Kotkaniemi + Domi + likely a top 10 first I don't think so. But I also don't think the Jets want or need another Centre not with both Wheeler and Scheifele there. So a package more like Domi + Mete + 1st 2021 + Brook would be more like what the Jets would be looking for. I really don't see the Jets wanting to move Laine anyway.

Islandjet your right Kotkaniemi is still a ? But only in the sense of is he going to be an Elite 2 way centre like Barkov or Scheifele or more a like Toews. Either way he is only 20 and will be a top 6 guy in some capacity.

There's a huge difference between being a top 6 guy in some capacity and being an elite top line center like those guys you mentioned.

St.LouisFan I never said there was not a big difference in an elite forward and a top 6 player! I was outlining both KK's ceiling and floor. I was also saying that while there is a ? as to how good he will be there is no ? as to whether or not he will make the NHL even if you have to place his value at the low end that makes him worth at least an unprotected 1st on the open market but o the Habs a 1st probably doesn't move the mark cause of the lack of centre depth and his potential so he is worth more to the Habs than his open market value.
