Price to Florida
Bobrovsky to Montreal

This assumes Price is finished

They both have 4 years left in their contracts and both are difficult to trade.

Montreal gets a starting goalie for that $10m in cap space for the next 4 years.
Bobrovsky, while liking Florida, gets to be a starting goalie again in a big market. This might get him to waive his NTC

Florida, gets $10.5 million in LTIR and can use that money to pay other players.

Price waives his NMC clause so he isn't a burden to Montreal.

Everyone wins.

How does Florida win by paying 10.5M for a guy who won’t play? They don’t have the same money as Vegas or Tampa.

Florida wins because they get 10M in LTIR savings. But this would be a huge no from Bob. He chose Florida and not being a big market might have been a big part of the reasoning. Also he’d be giving up maybe millions.

Hi
Bobrovsky is no longer their number 1 and he is eating up 10m in cap.
They free up his cap space by taking on Carey Prices cap space that is LTIR- meaning the insurance pays Price's salary and Florida has $10 million in additional cap space to take on players.

Price is paid by the insurance and his cap space can be used for other players. The space will come in handy at the trade deadline- especially for a contender.

Montreal gains because the get rid of price's contract and they get a very good, overpaid, goalie.

Why would Montreal want to get rid of prices contract. He doesn’t effect their cap space.

Bob would take multiple 1st and prospects to unload. I’ll even go as Far as saying Huberdeau and Bob packaged together wouldn’t return positive value.

Good point VB, Montreal doesn’t need a 10M starter right now anyway. I’d say this is a no from almost every party.

Habs will say no, think they would rather have the 10 million cap space available or risk having a Carey Price, potential Carey Price could potentially retire aswell. Habs won’t do out until they know the situation with Price.
