Penguins Offseason:
Trade 1:
To WPG: NEAL, FLEURY
To PENS: KANE, 9th OVR

If the canucks can get an 8th for Schneider, then we can get a 9th. Neal and Kane need new starts.

Trade 2:
To EDM: MARTIN, BENNETT, SAMUELSSON, 1st 2015
To PENS: YAKUPOV

EDM gets a Dman who can play top minutes, a pens top forward prospect, Samuelsson is NHL ready and will do well with the young oilers, and a 1st in a great draft. Martin will be a charismatic leader on a young team!

Trade 3:
To LA: Scuderi, 22 overall, 3rd 2016
To PENS: Clifford, 29 overall

Draft Day:
9th-Nylander
29-Thatcher Demko
RESIGN
Sutter: 4yrs--4mil per
Gibbons: 2yrs--1mil per
Megna: 2yrs--900k per

You may be thinking that our defence is weak, however these young guns have been waiting for guys like Orpik, Martin, and Scuderi to leave. They led our AHL affiliate, the WBS Pens, to their first Calder Final in several years! Give these young guns a chance. The depth that Shero provided on D is amazing and can finally be put into use!

Demko is compared to John Gibson and he is NEEDED in this organization. Nylander will be great in a few years, he just needs to adjust to the North American ice surface!

Thoughts? The trades IMO were of equal value, however they may not meet your teams needs. The EDM should have no complaints cause I addressed all the issues (Defense, second line RW, future 1st)

1.) 21 Jun 2014
1. IMO WPG declines. Schneider was way younger when he fetched 8th overall and very promising, while MAF has choked in the playoffs for so many times. Also, Kane is younger and has more upside than Neal.
2. LA doesn't need any defence, but they may do it fot the picks, I don't know
3. IMO Nylander will be gone at #9, so will Demko at #29
4. Miller will want more than 2 yrs

2.) 21 Jun 2014
The D is too young and that's too much for Yakupov. Ge doesn't play a team game. Pitt doesn't need him

You have most of the players in wrong positions

4.) 21 Jun 2014
A Neal for Kane trade would be interesting - but it depends on badly Winnipeg wants to move Kane and how badly Pitt wants to move Neal.

If both teams are trying to maximize value then it gets a little too complicated.

5.) 21 Jun 2014
Canucks got the 9th overall for Schneider

@Draisaitl_94

The Defense is young, however these guys are above average. Depres was ready to play a few years ago however Disco Dan wanted to keep the old guys!

In the latest NHL Mock Draft, they have Nylander going 10th overall, so it is realistic.

Miller may WANT more than 2 yrs, but he will not get it. He has to adjust his "wants" to fit the market!

Shneider is a year younger. So that is not unrealistic, and Fleury is better than Shneider. Who has a cup and a Gold to their name?

I agree that WPG may want more, however Kane is NOT the right fit for them. Neal is coming off of 3 great regular seasons.

LA DOES need defence, they are losing several to Free Agency and they announced that they wanted more of a veteran presence even though they won the ultimate prize.

Bennett will be a better player than yak. I don't mind the makings of the peg trade but tweaks must be made their defense prospects are #1 in the league for sure let em play! Good call on that.
