Since I see a lot of posts about Forsberg and Jiones for Kessel and Bozak, I thought I would make a realistic option of a deal where Kessel goes to Nahsville:

To: Nashville
F Phil Kessel

To: Toronto
F Craig Smith
2015 1st Round Pick
2016 3rd Round Pick (2nd if NSH reaches conference finals)

That is not too far off what a deal would go like. Nashville gets another top line winger completing their top line and Toronto gets a young, high upside forward, a first round pick and another pick to round off the deal.

Not enough for kessel! need to take out the third and put in a top prospect like Fiala or Watson.

2.) 11 Feb 2015
Nashville needs to add, a lot.

Say what you want about Kessel, but he puts up 70-80 points a season. Does Patrick Kane get ridiculed over back checking? Tyler Seguin? Marian Gaborik? Taylor Hall? It's just cause he's on the Leafs.

When a player puts up 70-80 points a season, consistently, and not injured often. He doesn't come cheap, regardless of who the player is. Kessel included.

To put it simply, a late 1st, a late 2nd and a alright forward doesn't get Kessel.

I don't believe that is enough I would think either jones or forsberf have to be in the deal maybe in the offseason a straight up trade of kessel for weber Nash he's rid of the 10 or what ever years left they have good depth at d to move him an leafs need a number 1 d man

4.) 11 Feb 2015
It's more than a stretch to call that trade really realistic. Nashville would love it, but Nonis would not do it.

5.) 11 Feb 2015
If i'm toronto this is an easy no. Kessel is way better then Smith and is only two years older and the 1st rd pick is likely to be at the end of the first round which is always hit and miss. I think toronto would be able to find a better package then this.

6.) 11 Feb 2015
I would say that the Leafs would say yes if not for the fact that Nashville's 1st round pick is going to be between 24-30.

7.) 11 Feb 2015
Now I think we all know that Kessel isn't worth Forsberg, Jones and a 1st but he is defedefinitly worth more than this.

8.) 11 Feb 2015
Realistic?!? Listen I know Kessel is no Ovechkin but he's still a top 10 player in the league. A mediocre 2nd line centre (not even sure if he's an upgrade over Bozak) and a 24-30 pick is not even close to a top sniper in the league. Try again.

9.) 11 Feb 2015
Not a leaf fan but that isn't enough toronto says no

@Stammer2Leafs2016, Kessel is a good offensive player, however he is not a top ten player.

11.) 11 Feb 2015
As a preds fan its still a no from us, Kessel is a player the Preds are not interested in adding, they've built a team on chemistry and character, Kessel just doesn't fit.
BTW Kessel is worth more than that

@fully13
I really hope I'm wrong but the leafs would never get Weber for Kessel. He's one of the best and will be for years to come.

Top 10 in the league? Try adding another 0.
I know that's overdone, but top 10? honestly? Tell that to guys like Crosby, Stamkos, Giroux, Malkin, Toews, Doughty, Weber, Tavares, Getzlaf, Perry, Tarasenko, Benn, Seguin, Voracek, Kane, Backstrom, Pavelski, Couture, Voracek and Kopitar. Havent even mentioned a whole bunch of great defenseman.
These are 20 players that randomly popped up in my brain, didn't do any research. Probably forgot about another 10.
All of them are better than Kessel, so top 10 is laughable

14.) 11 Feb 2015
What do people expect for Kessel?
Imo this trade is a good trade although I think Nash is not intrested in Kessel at the moment

Yeah I think it's fairly reasonable. Maybe somehow include Ellis.
But whoever thinks NSH would even consider giving up Jones or Forsberg or even Josi, is completely delusional.

@Drais

I think your comment is the perfect example of why this debate is so difficult.

As you point out, NSH would not trade Forsberg, Jones or Josi, but why are people delusional for thinking NSH should bring something of value to the table in a trade for kessel? I posted before I think a Kessel trade to NSH is counterintuitive(for a number of reasons) but if TOR was going to move him to NSH, they would be expecting at least one of those assets on the table.
