That's a lot to give up but Ek could help the Jets defense.

I don’t mind it, but Winnipeg doesn’t have the cap space

Too much from Winnipeg. The Jets shouldn't be trading their 1st or Stanley. Ekholm would be nice but is an LD, so not a long term need and the Jets shouldn't spend that many assets on him, so Nashville would probably get a better return elsewhere.

I agree @memarcusjoe this would be a super good deal if other teams were interested which I’m sure there will be, but if Winnipeg was the only serious trading partner then I can see a deal involving a 1st and Stanley working out

@NotACasual, Stanley has looked pretty good this year from what we've seen of him, so the Jets would be better off hanging on to him. I'd be all in for getting Ekholm if it doesn't involve the Jets 1st or one of Samberg, Heinola, Perfetti or Stanley. Ekholm is nice, but he's not really a difference maker IMO, is 30, an LD and only has another year on his contract. If he comes at a good price great, if he doesn't, oh well.

Price might be a little high but the “not a long term need” argument was used by you every time someone had Laine being traded for a C. You saying with Scheifle and Statsny was shown wrong when they got Dubois. Bottom line they got a really good player that can be a W or a C and makes them better right now.

I think Chevy, just like Dubas in Toronto, realizes that they have a pretty good shot at the easiest route to a conference final in years and will make moves to help that. Ekholm definitely does that for WPG. Very much like Muzzin in Toronto. Almost identical situations.
