Seen a lot of rumours of a potential Kawhai style trade from the Maple Leafs this offseason and a potential target for that could be Miller.

Obviously you need to give to get so I think any trade involving Miller has to involve Nylander.

However would also probably have to be very similar in money.

Garland has been on the outs in Vancouver it seems, and Kerfoot is from the Vancouver area so that is his hometown team.

Tor:
Nylander
Kerfoot

Van:
Miller
Garland

I just think this sort of trade would make sense for both teams. Nylander is younger, skilled, and has more years left, while Miller is probably a top 15 if not top 10 player in the league, but also only has one year left.

Rip on me in the comments if I'm completely off here lol but also who do you think would have to add if you think it's close? Do the Leafs need to add a decent prospect? Do the Canucks add? Is there a clear winner in this trade?

Heavily favors Toronto.

Miller > Nylander
Garland > Kerfoot.

Kerfoot had a better year then Garland but it’s your opinion I guess.

Of course Miller is better then Nylander but term+age difference may be the difference maker that’s all I’m saying.

But you can say the Leafs add another prospect, probably one that plays defence due to Vancouvers terrible back end.

No I'd say Vancouver wouldn't want Nylander or Kerfoot.

Nylander is a right shot RW, just like Boeser and Garland. Vancouver is looking to gain some cap space not take on more.

Kerfoot, nobody wants him. Maybe someone might if Toronto retained enough salary but Toronto is looking to move him to save so that wouldn't make any sense for them.

Kerfoot one year left at 3.5 mill. 51 points in 82 games with almost no PP time and playing on the 4th line for half the season. In a higher role with PP time he could push 60 points. Stop undervaluing this guy he’s not a cap dump . Toronto would at least be able to get a 2nd round pick for him but that’s not a trade they would ever make because versatile players who can get to 50 points with almost no PP time are very hard to come by, especially under 4 million.

Also this is a money in money out deal, we are talking like a $200k difference here. So that bs “cap space” excuse means nothing.

You don't get it. Vancouver wants to clear up cap space, that's why they've been shopping Miller, Boeser and Garland.

This doesn't clear up cap space for them and it doesn't give them a player they're looking for either. That'd be a top 4 RD or a cheaper top 6 winger. Kerfoot is a bottom 6 making too much money for that role.

You will never convince me that Kerfoots 3.5 million for a player who can play any position on any line, hit 50 points without PP time, and can play the PK is too much.

Also Vancouver is looking to move contracts like OEL and Myers for cap space. If they make jt public that they are trading too 6 forwards for cap they are not going to get a lot of high quality offers from other GMs.

You could play any position on any line. That doesn't mean you belong there or that you're even an NHL player but you could do it.

No but Kerfoot is an NHL caliber player, there is a clear difference. Maybe if you actually watched a few Leafs games this season you would see how valuable he is.

I watched quite a few Leafs games I know exactly how valuable he is not.

Leafs definitely add... probably a top prospect or a first round pick.

I would hate to see Nylander on Vancouver. They guy is about himself and not the team in contract negotiations. All this aside, who knows how well this guy plays on a team that isn't stacked.... bit risky for Vancouver IMO

@themostleaf33

If kerfoot is that valuable. then maybe leafs should keep him?

A third liner/ 4th liner ain't worth 3.5 million. like seriously come on. Van could do way better in the UFA market. being a hometown player isn't going to cause Van to pursue this guy. Toronto has to sell him to a possible buyer. I love leaf fans. they think everyone wants to play in Toronto. unfortunately, Toronto is where good players (who haven't won a cup) come to retire.

Absolutely one of the worst trade offers made by one of the Toronto delusional. Just awful.

Terrible offer, VAN hangs up.

Leaf fans, it’s been a while since I’ve seen a realistic offer. Read some non-TSN/ SN articles (they own 90% of the leafs and provide opinions and coverage non-leaf fans can’t begin to take seriously. )

If you want to be taken seriously, try some realism. Your team hasn’t won ONE playoff round in almost TWO decades, and heartless players like Nylander are NOT in demand with fan bases that win playoff rounds. (Cap dumps like Mrazek without compensatory picks to take on bad contracts are ridiculous to propose. A goalie with that salary and term that can’t be trusted to start playoff games for your team are not wanted by other teams either. )

Another moronic offer. Van says no.
