I wanted to try a 3 team trade idea after seeing Coulson’s.


3-Team Trade (CAR, TOR & CGY)

CAR - 2024 1st (TOR), Ilya Samsonov and Timothy Liljegren

TOR - Brett Pesce (25% Salary Retained) and Chris Tanev (50% Salary Retained)

CGY - 2024 3rd (TOR) and Zion Nybeck


Breakdown :
CAR - Brett Pesce and Zion Nybeck for 2024 1st, Ilya Samsonov and Timothy Liljegren
TOR - 2024 1st, 2024 3rd, Ilya Samsonov and Timothy Liljegren for Brett Pesce and Chris Tanev
CGY - Chris Tanev for 2024 3rd and Zion Nybeck


Flames and Canes get younger, Leafs get a huge upgraded blueline. Canes have an aging blueline and adding Liljegren would be a smart move. Orlov (32), Slavin (29), Burns (38), Skjei (29), DeAngelo (28) and Chatfield (27). You could argue the Leafs should do the same but they need to make a deep run in the playoffs.

I think Calgary get the short end on this one. Tanev retained is worth more than a 3rd and a prospect. Love it from my Leafs perspective though.

The return seems unfair to CGY, who will get more trading Tanev than this.

yeah I was gonna make it a 2nd + Nybeck but Leafs don’t got a 2nd. Maybe a 3rd + 5th from Leafs?
