No chance Winnipeg takes a bad contract like Duchene's back.

I wouldn’t do it from Nashville, Fabbro is a legend.

Why would the Jets trade Laine for that weak return?

Because he's a one dimensional player who's expecting a big raise on his current 6.75 mil contract when it expires a year from now. The Jets can't afford that so they don't want him.

Nobody else wants him either, at least not at anywhere near what the team is asking, far, far less the superstar compensation Jets fans think they can get.

Don’t think this is a good offer, because jets will want young and cheap.

But MoxNix, don’t call Laine one dimensional. we all learned yesterday that he’s a physical specimen who has a great 2 way game lol.

MoxNix has made it clear with his laughable hot takes that he has no knowledge on hockey though Sampson, so he's really flying blind here.

Well Marcus, a cpl weeks back you called Nylander “leafs garbage, overpaid and lazy” and the next day called Ehlers “a 24 yr old first line winger on a great contract”

Their age, playing position, draft position, playing style, career numbers and effectiveness are virtually identical with pretty similar contracts lol they may be the most comparable players we ever get to debate on this site. So that’s either showing zero knowledge or an insane bias too.

Figure it out. all these trade rumours started with TSN's Frank Seravalli who once was the reporter in Philly. Then it was Philly that apparently was so close to making a deal but then it disappeared. It was all CLICK BAIT. Winnipeg easily has the money to pay Laine if they choose. Little will more than likely retire after the upcoming season or stay on LTIR until his contract is up (Winnipeg will probably give him a role in the organization due to his loyalty over the years. Perrault's contract is done after this year so between those two, they have 9.5m free plus laine's existing 6.75m. They easily can sign Laine with a raise, a replacement 3rd/ 4th line guy for Perrault and then think about upgrades on D.

Stasney's 6.5m contract also expires and if they re-sign him depending on how things go this year, it will be at least 1-2m lower and if not they will have that 6.5m to work with.

Add in the fact that they most likely will lose one of Roslevic (if they choose to resign him this year), Lowry or Coop in the Seattle expansion draft so they will lose 2-3m in salary with one of them leaving which will be replaced with Perfetti coming in the league (1.7m salary) .

Taken together Winnipeg is not in a rush to move Laine and they are not financially in trouble. They control him for three more years and can do whatever they decide to.

So how about looking at other players and trade possibilities?
THANKS.

I would take Nylander over Ehlers any day of the week and I am a Montreal Canadiens fan.

@toffoli, I agree. I would take Nylander for sure, but I could respect someone’s opinion for going the other way on it. Ehlers is a good player too. But how a jets fan can find this massive disparity between the two leaning Ehlers way, when everything we know shows they’re very similar (Nylander actually holds a slight advantage in more stats) while he calls others biased and having no hockey knowledge is the funny party.
