Trade proposals before the deadline and yes it fits the cap for all teams.

Toronto Outgoing
Kerfoot (SJ)
Joey Anderson (SJ)
Holl (Van)
Clifford (Chi)
Knies (SJ)
1st Round Pick 2023 (SJ)
3rd Round Pick 2023 (SJ)
2nd Round Pick 2024 (Van)

Toronto Incoming
Meier* (SJ)
Bonino (SJ)
Blackwell (Chi)
Myers* (Van)

*Both SJ and Chicago retain 50% of Meier's and Myers contract.

If Toronto would have to add another lower level prospect of late draft pick to Chicago for Blackwell I would still do it.

Thoughts ?

Not very fair trades. Come on Pinball try to make a trade that isn't so one sided for the Leafs as these trades are.

This is pure “Fantasy Hockey”.

? Homer Trades.

islandjet and Chickenfoot

Not fair trades, and homer trades?
Please explain what you mean.

Meier a RFA has the most value of the 4, Bonino is on an expiring contract and SJ will be getting a Top Prospect in Knies, a B Prospect in Joey Anderson plus a 1st and 3rd Round Pick which fills what Grier in looking to trade Meier, Kerfoot for Bonino is for Cap reasons.
Vancouver is rebuilding and getting a 2nd Rounder even though salary is retained is what they will get with Holl being added for Cap reasons, again trading Myers to any team would be a similar cost imo.
Blackwell is a 4th liner on Chicago with 9 points and a 1.2 million Cap for this and next season, why wouldn't Chicago trade him?
I have explained myself, both of you haven't backed up what you mean.
Here is your chance, what do you both mean explain how this is a homer and unfair trade for the teams not named The Leafs?

Ok Pinball

First off,
Chicago is not reading Blackwell for Clifford who is a wasted shirt. They will likely ask for a late round pick instead.
Secondly,
Myers is worth more then a 2nd rounder with 50% retained. Holl is a 6th or 7th defenceman
Thirdly,
Your San Jose trade I like. Seems fair value but I don’t know how Toronto will fit Meier qualifying offer of 10 million next year and even if they offer him an extension they would have to trade multiple players to make some room.

Pinball…you are a special case indeed.

Your trades are always about your leafs, and typically give a new meaning to the term “fantasy hockey”. Maybe you are just a biased fan. Maybe you lack the ability to differentiate between what you want and what that costs in assets in the real world.

Whatever it is, this trade is WAAAAAY out there…even for you. I suspect whatever happens at the deadline with the leafs will come as a great shock to you and you alone.

Sorry Pinball but you constantly overrate the Leafs prospects, players and believe that teams will want to trade for them. Teams will happily trade good, proven NHLers for a quantity of fringe NHL players, high draft picks, unproven, some unsigned minor leaguers.
Then expect those teams to retain salary so the Leafs can fit these players under the cap because they overpay their own players to keep them in Toronto.
Yes Pinball most of your trade proposals are very one sided and pure fantasy.

I don't think the trade for Meier is enough, but it's not that far off. Knies is a good prospect, but he's not a top prospect. Top prospects are more in the likes of Nemec, Jiricek, Luke Hughes, Cooley, Edvinsson, Wright, to name a few.

Meier is a 26 year old PPG player who's on pace for 45 goals this year. His price tag is a hefty one, especially since he's an RFA this offseason and so teams can take take their time to renegotiate his next contract.

It'll have to be more than that if they want Meier

@Pinball
Don’t blame you at all for trying, but Meier is the top player available at this deadline, and SJ will likely get a better offer without the salary retention.
SJ is hoping to unload Karlsson, and if they do, they will be retaining plenty right there. Cap space is not cheap (see Flames’ 1st to unload Monahan) .

And don’t worry about the belly-aching that your proposals are biased.
It just comes off as biased the other way.

Reality check everyone.
Timo Meier and Kevin Fiala are very comparable, and what was the trade for Kevin Fiala?
I am offering much more than The LAKings gave Minnesota for Fiala.
More reality check yes Horvat and Tarasenko are UFAs but wasn't the price actually low for those 2 players?
What I am getting at is the price tag won't be as high as many on here think, in fact if or when Meier is traded I bet it will be less than my proposal.

“Reality check everyone” - Pinball.

You just can’t make this stuff up. Pinball…offering reality checks.

OUT-STANDING??.

Kevin Fiala couldn't carry Timo Meiers jockstrap.

12.) 14 Feb 2023
14 Feb 2023 12:35:00
@Pinball, Fiala is very good, but not as good of as goal scorer and has a waaaay different playstyle than Meier.

Meier is young and on a rebuilding team, who says they don't prefer keeping him? If they trade him, it won't be for a late 1st, a B+ prospect and a 3rd round pick.

If I'm SJ I want a TOP prospect, a late 1st/early 2nd and a 3rd rounder
OR
a mid first round pick, a 2nd round pick and a B prospect

It's been almost a year since I've been back to this page to make any trade proposals. I see Pinball is still stacking his trades with everything Toronto needs to get rid of and asking for everything on the trade block from any team that will improve the Leafs.

Always onesided trades from Pinball.

Renidrag and matador12 Fiala not comparable to Meier?
Let's break it down to prove that's a ridiculous statement.

Meier Age 26 years old
Career Stats
Games 448
Goals 153
Assists 162
Points 315
Avg Points Per Game .70

Fiala Age 26 years old
Career Stats
Goals 142
Assists 196
Points 338
Avg Points Per Game.71

Very comparable as stats don't lie.
So again being very comparable what did Minnesota get trading Fiala to The LAKings?

14 Feb 2023 14:41:32
Forgot to add Fiala's career games
Games 474.

16.) 14 Feb 2023

@Pinball

Read my comment. They are very different players. Meier is a scoring power forward and Fiala is an undersized sniper, albeit a very skilled one. Meier has triple the hits of Fiala during his time in the nhl (769 vs 266). GMs still value physical play a lot, and a physical winger who is a PPG, boy oh boy he's going to cost a lot. Also, Meier has a slight edge in goal scoring with a 0.34 goals scored per game vs Fiala's 0.29 goals scored per game.

Meier is a prototypical PPG power forward and probably one of the best power forwards in the NHL right now.

It just seems like you are trying to convince everyone here that the leafs will make the best offer for him, and that's just not the case.

14 Feb 2023 17:33:45
Yeah I’d say they’re very comparable except their team situation is a little different. If they can’t/ won’t sign Meier before the deadline then they pretty much need to trade him IMO. They won’t give him 10M so he’ll become a UFA and probably test the market rather than sign in San Jose for less then his 10M QO. So actually it’s not that far off the Wild situation where they couldn’t afford to resign Fiala.
