DET: Debrincat

OTT: Zadina, 1st 2023 (17 overall), 4th 2024.

Debrincat signs an extension for 8 years at 7-8 million a season.

I like this offer but I'd like to see Yzerman hang onto his two 1st rounders. Maybe this same package but with 1 of the three 2nd rounds included and another prospect instead like Hanas or Wallinder.

2.) 20 Jun 2023 16:12:59
- I can see DET as a fit, but this is a HUGE underpay for Debrincat.
- Zadina is a bust. (His best season was 10 G, 14 A & -21.)
- OTT will want roster players now more than picks and prospects.

On another note, Stevie Y is setting DET up nicely with lots of picks over the next few years.

3.) 20 Jun 2023 16:30:16
@chickenfoot From a Red Wings fan's perspective, the issue with Zadina has been that he has lost confidence in his shot and overthinks his shooting opportunities.

I don't know if its been the lack of a supporting cast in Detroit throughout his career coupled with high expectations on his shoulders for being a high draft pick, but a change of scenery for Zadina might make a huge difference in his game. The $6 million in cap space for Ottawa leftover even after bringing in Zadina can also be leveraged to sign a top 6 roster player.

4.) 20 Jun 2023 19:18:54
Keep in mind Ottawa gave up a 1st (7overall), 2nd and a 4th to acquire Debrincat. So a roster player and/ or good prospect with a 1st is not bad for return especially when you know he won’t be resigning next year with you.

5.) 21 Jun 2023 00:37:56
DAVE: lost his confidence, bust, whatever you call him he’s a reclamation project and not a key piece in a trade. (He’s too slight for a 4th line role, so his current path is to be a 3rd liner at best. )

DETCMM: when assessing someone’s trade value as an asset, it doesn’t matter to hockey people in the slightest what a team gave up in a trade to acquire said asset, or where he was drafted, etc. I see that a lot on here, and it just doesn’t matter. Furthermore, you’re being generous calling Zadina a roster player, because he isn’t on a good team.

6.) 21 Jun 2023 02:45:39
Change that 1st to Detroits 1st Top 10, and the 4th to a 2nd at worst and the conversation can at least get started. As is though, that's nowhere near enough for a 2 time 40 goal scorer like DeBrincat who most likely would take a hometown discount to stay long term with his childhood favorite team.

They either give up their 1st + or they do a straight up swap for Seider, or they give Raymond and a smaller peice or 2.

You can't expect a high end player like DeBrincat for peanuts and projects, it don't work like that.

7.) 21 Jun 2023 22:11:45
If Wallinder is involved, Detroit says no thank you to this proposal. Ottawa can keep the Cat. And if Detroit gets him, I wouldn't give him more than $7.5M per year, not for a -31 player on a team that was only a -10 last year. So the Sens were a +21 when ADB was not on the ice? Nope, no thank you.

8.) 22 Jun 2023 17:42:44
DeBrincat while yes being a potential 40 goal scorer lacks on the defensive side greatly. Does he hit 40 goals again, I honestly don't think so. I think he can bring you 30 goals every year which is still a great thing to have in a player. I've read Sens want a pick and a prospect. I think they don't want it to drag out into the season so I suppose we will see what they end up getting. Zadina would likely benefit from a change of scenery, but I think his ceiling is a 2nd liner if we are being realistic and an average one at that.

I'm looking at Nashville's #15 pick, with some throw ins.

Detroit: Meier

San Jose: Rasmussen, Soderblom/Mazur, Wallinder, 1st 2024, 2nd 2023.

Meier is good an all, but I dont know if he's worth all that.

DET: Provorov

PHI: Bertuzzi and Walman

Trade only happens if Bertuzzi signs an extension with Philly.

DETCMM1494

1.) 17 Jan 2023 14:33:25
Provorov gets more imo

2.) 17 Jan 2023 20:32:49
Provorov DEFINITELY gets more than that, and Bertuzzi is a headcase whose very presence makes your dressing room weaker.

EDM: nyquist, gavrikov (Both 50% Retained)

CLB: puljujarvi, shore, Broberg,
1st 2023, 2nd 2024

DETCMM1494

1.) 15 Jan 2023 19:04:57
This actually makes a great deal of sense for a variety of reasons:

- Pullijarvi has zero trade value given his statements about if he fits in the NHL, but CLB GM Jarmo K. is Finnish, and might be able to work with him.

- Holland has a history with Nyqvist

- EDM is handcuffed with their cap and any deals they make are going to be expen$ive in trade capital.

This looks like like a great deal for CLB, and while costly, EDM can’t waste the primes of their core players waiting forever. It’ll be a huge gamble, but one they will eventually have to make.

2.) 15 Jan 2023 21:40:58
Puljujarvi to Columbus makes sense but no way Broberg belongs in this trade IMO.

3.) 16 Jan 2023 15:47:14
I don't think EDM would want to give out Broberg on top of the deal for rentals. Broberg is close to being nhl ready and I feel like next year he'll take Kulak's spot on the 2nd pair, assuming Gavrikov isn't re-signed if a trade were to be made for him.
Nyquist might be worth a 2nd at best right now and Colombus' asking price for Gavrikov is reported to be a 1st + 3rd.

Maybe a lower value prospect instead of Broberg, like Lavoie or Tullio

4.) 16 Jan 2023 17:21:04
Broberg should stay if gavrikov gets an extension upon being traded.
If not, then switch Broberg for Niemelainen.
Puljijarvi and shore are only throw ins to keep them cap compliant.

COL: Horvat, Kuzmenko

VAN: Maltsev, Girard and 1st 2023

COL: Gudas

FLA: 4th 2024, Ranta.

DETCMM1494

1.) 14 Jan 2023 03:28:35
Way too little for Horvat and Kuzmenko, they can get more in separate deals

Can’t use the same picks in both trades. Plus, I don’t think Toronto will have enough cap space to pull it off.

I’m just going to say this. Toronto must get a goalie and shut down defenceman or they ain’t getting past the first round against Tampa. Especially if they are going with Murray and Samsonov.

Ok Pinball

First off,
Chicago is not reading Blackwell for Clifford who is a wasted shirt. They will likely ask for a late round pick instead.
Secondly,
Myers is worth more then a 2nd rounder with 50% retained. Holl is a 6th or 7th defenceman
Thirdly,
Your San Jose trade I like. Seems fair value but I don’t know how Toronto will fit Meier qualifying offer of 10 million next year and even if they offer him an extension they would have to trade multiple players to make some room.

I’d rather have Rasmussen at 1.8 million then Boeser at 6.5 million for next year.
