The Wpg. Jets are very well positions for next year to take advantage of the drop in Salary Cap (SC). They have several UFA and have only $34M in committed cap space for the 2013/14 season. Teams such as the Flyers, Blackhawks, Cancucks and Lighting have big cap space problems and others major teams have quite a few RFA’s coming up next year. The Jets also have 6 draft choices in the 2013 draft in the first 2. 5 rounds to use in trades. Yes they have some star contracts coming up this year but there will be plenty of cap space available.
1.) The jets only have 11 players under contract. there not in good shape. raises upcoming
WPG offers a 3rd and 4th for Loui Eriksson
Pouliot is unproven, plenty of promise, nothing special about Blake Comeau. Ladd is Jets captain and won two cups and is a top 6 forward on any team in the NHL.
I feel he'll be better than T. J.
Usually the team getting the best player wins the trade BUT not in this case. 3 high quality players a very promising goalie and McDavid for Hall? Jets say are you absolutely crazy!
This trade isn't far off. DET gets 2 proven players with upside in Kane. WPG gets potential. Not many players translate that well from Junior to the NHL. There is plenty of risk on both sides. Kane is 22 years old and a past 30 goal man. Frolik is a proven top 6 player that kills penalties and will score 20 goals without any defensive risk.
