I don't think Minnesota should or will trade Dumba. However, there are rumors the leafs are interested. I also don't think the leafs will trade Nylander but he is their best chance at getting a top d man

Minnesota - Dumba, JT Brown (AHL)
Toronto - Nylander, Dermott

Minnesota gets a top 6 winger and a young defenseman. Toronto gets a #1 RD and add some grit, if Brown can even stay at the NHL level

Or

Minnesota - Dumba, JT Brown
Toronto - Kapanen, Dermott, Liljegren

I think the 1st proposal is fair value, I'm not sure Minnesota would consider the 2nd. Can anyone tell me how Liljegren is developing?

Looking forward to hearing from Shoots, Balsam & the jets girls.

The leafs aren't trading Nylander when he is on pace for 35-40 goals LMAOOOOO. He is having the best year of his career, Dumba isn't. Unless the leafs are offered something they cannot refuse (someone like Josi) they aren't going to be trading Nylander.

Liljgren is also having the best year of his career in the AHL. He has 26 points in 35 games for the marlies this year and I think he was injured at one point as well. He could definitely make an NHL roster by next year.

Dermott is young, and its unlikely the leafs are going to be trading him this year, especially with Reilly injured. The only way I see him being traded is if he asks for too much on his next contract. There is also a very high chance that next year the left side of the leafs defence will include Reilly, Dermott, and Sandin unless they re-sign Muzzin and Dermott cannot learn to play the right side.

I could see one of Kapanen, Johnsson, or Kerfoot getting traded, especially with the emergence of Engvall and Mikheyev. I guess it depends on who they are targeting, but Kapanen probably has the most value out of those three.

Also one more thing, last I heard, Sandin, Liljgren, and Robertson are untouchable. I'm not sure it still applies but I think it has been established that Dubas doesn't like to trade young prospects with a high ceiling.

If Liljegren is developing well then I say the leafs stay away from Dumba. Go after a cheaper option like Braun. I’m really hoping Muzzin resigns, he’s one of the only guys that will throw a body check. I’m glad they are in talks already. If they are confident he will sign, Dermott would be a nice trade chip. Possibly trade Dermott for a young, cost controlled RD with similar skill set as himself.

I understand that Nylander is having a career year, I just thought that he is what it would take to get a #1 RD. I’m confident if played in the top 6 full time, Kapanen could put up over 60 points. He kills penalties, ton of speed, better contract and better defensively than Nylander. I think it will be a mistake if they trade Kapanen.

I meant Brendan Dillon not Justin Braun.

These proposals must be bad for Toronto if the trolls didn’t reply, lol.

The first option is most likely what it would take to get Dumba. I can see why TOR fans would scoff, but that seems reasonable. That said, I don't think TOR would do that.

So fron what I'm reading, kapanen is really the only player of value that might be available. if not kapanen good luck getting a good defenseman with spare parts.

That’s what you’re reading from one leaf fan shoots. I think it would take Nylander to get Dumba, I even added more. Obviously Dermott has more value than JT Brown. Kapanen would get a good defenseman, just not a guy like Dumba without a considerable add on.

Leafs looking for a RD with term or a left shot defenseman with experience on the right side. Josh Manson is still the perfect fit for Reilly IMO. He's taken a lot of criticism on here, is it point production? He's a stay at home defenseman that plays with an edge, exactly what the leafs need. Another name that has not been mentioned is Adam Larsson. Everyone talks about the defense depth the oilers have but lack wingers. Kapanen or Johnsson would look good in Edmonton's top 6 and Larsson would be a nice partner for Reilly. Not sure if Edmonton's younger defenseman are ready to make the jump.

Larsson>>>Manson. Manson was good but this season has been awful.

Just looking at RD, stay at home defenseman with term vbb’s. There are many out there but some teams are not sellers. Not that Edmonton is, they just might need a forward/ defense swap. I wasn’t at all saying Manson and Larsson had the same value.

Russell is LD with right side experience. Leafs can have him for cheeeap.

I’d like that but I don’t think Nashville would.

Why would the leafs want Rieder? I’d rather wait to see Bracco crack the line up.

I’d take that as a Toronto fan.
