Vancouver decides to trade both.
1st trade
Detroit sends Dylan Larkin $8,700,000 (whom requested a trade earlier this year)
and use their Projected Cap Space
$3,437,594 to aquire:
Elias Petterson $11,600,000
2nd trade
NYR sends
(c) Filip Chytil (4.4)
(rw) Alexis Lafreniere (2.325)
(D) Braden Schneider (2.2)
To Vancouver for:
(c) J.T. Miller - 8m
(rw) Kiefer Sherwood 1.5M
1.) 09 Jan 2025 12:47:46
the rumour about larkin requesting a trade was false! wings say no to this trade!
2.) 09 Jan 2025 14:27:54
Larkin did NOT request a trade earlier. And I would not accept Petterson for Larkin 1 for 1. Patterson has more talent, but Larkin's compete level has never been questioned, and he is a leader, unlike Petterson.
3.) 09 Jan 2025 15:43:29
- IF the Larkin rumour was true, VCR would do both trades.
- Both DET & NYR are weaker after these trades.
- 2 troubled teams like NYR & VCR should be able to come together on a trade where they can exchange problems to see if a change of scenery could help either or both.
4.) 10 Jan 2025 15:12:31
Skill-wise petey > Wings, BUT value to organization wise, Larkin should be untradeable. Trading a captain is not a good look and he is the foundation for the Wings.
The NYR is interesting but didn’t they have JT already? I also think Laf has earned his spot so it’s unlikely they trade him.

Food for thought.
Some may think this menu sucks and the food ain't worth the bite.
What really bites is Matthews' injuries and for me anyways I would trade platters in order to...
1- gain center help
2- gain two players that can both collect as many points and contribute (if not more) as we'd be giving up.
3-add leadership and playoff knowledge galore
Trade:
c-Auston Matthews -$13,250,000
c-Easton Cowen - $904,667
For:
Sidney Crosby - $8,700,000
Evgeni Malkin - $6,100,000
Yes, it is a fantasy and somewhat unbeilavable considering the magnitude of a big dealio like this.
But, if all three parties of players and gms accepted this, I myself as a Leaf fan would re-adjust for a two year window thinking we are better off capturing a cup with this trade.
Merry Christmas All ( good thing for the trade freeze or this may have been done already lol)
1.) 22 Dec 2024 23:43:51
as great as sid an gino are, we would benefit more from skilled mid ranged players than superstars. players like lehkonen, burokovski, and buchnevich. like serious, if you traded out matthews and kampf. you have enough cap space for all 3 of those players.
2.) 23 Dec 2024 12:03:29
Merry Christmas TG!
3.) 24 Dec 2024 03:09:28
Hrenklin - You are trying to trade three players from three different teams. Even though I do admire some qualities of hose players mentioned, imo Sid and Geno would still add more for this team right now if Matthews was to be traded.
I cant see a scenario where a team would pick him up, give us a rubbishload of draft picks and cap space in order to scoop three different players from three different teams.
Cros is still clicking and accumulating points while be one of the top notch captains to ever hit the ice and imo would even feel a little refreshed and maybe even hungrier representing the Leafs and able to lead the way. Add Geno also to the line up and the team pretty much balances out 1-4 lines nicely.
Anyways lol Matthews probably would be the one to nix the deal the way I figure it for this dream trade scenario.
4.) 24 Dec 2024 15:36:46
Pittsburgh says no thank you.
5.) 24 Dec 2024 18:57:46
If trading Matthews I would rather something built around Cozens and Power or Byram. Not sue which side adds but I think that leaves a long term windows open.
02 Dec 2024 16:39:48
Colorado deals:
Mikko Ratanen - 9.25
Casey Mittlestat - 5.750
Alexander Georgiev - 3.4
2026 2nd round
Calum Ritchie - .950K
=$19.35 M
To the Pittsburgh Penguins for:
Sidney Crosby - 8.7
Evgani Malkin - 6.1
Tristan Jarry - 5.375
2026 4th
=20.175 M
Was kind of bored and thinking that The Avs might give up some youth to pry Sid to play with Mack. Gino gets a few fellow russians to play with as they try to chase the Stan one more time.
Wonder if Dubas would bite or even be allowed to make a trade, I dunno lol But he at least gain two younger players in Rat and former first round young gun Calum Ritchie. Add Casey down the Middlestat and Maybe Dubas gets a go ahead for a fire sale.
Mackinnon - Sid - Lehkonen
Kovalenko - Malkin - Nichushkin
Be a fun watch ^^
1.) 02 Dec 2024 23:26:18
This is easily the most thought-provoking and interesting post in some time.
I suppose Crosby and Malkin agreeing to this would be a big if, but you definitely have the salaries and values evened out nicely.
I really like this one!
2.) 05 Dec 2024 13:50:52
It's interesting for sure. With Rantanen being a UFA I can see Dubas being hesitant to give up the core unless an extension was in place. He'd get fired so fast of he made the deal and Rantanen left at year's end.

R.I.P. JG
Columbus realizes it is time to move on, not replace, but try to start a new fresh era.
To Columbus:
Leon Draisitl @14.5 for 8 years starting next year. 8.5 mil this year
Darnell Nurse 9.25 mil
for:
Boone Jenner - $3.75mil
Zach Werenski -$9.583,333 mil
2025 1st rnd
2026 3rd rnd
2027 2nd round
1.) 07 Sep 2024 15:29:52
Obviously, this trade scenario was devised before Drais actually inked his new contract with the Oilers.
I wonder though if this mock trade would have been mulled over by the Oilers and possibly accepted?
2.) 07 Sep 2024 15:53:19
Lol um blues beat that with kyrou and dvorsky.
19 Feb 2024 15:03:34
Frank Vatrano@50% retained
Radko Gudas
to Bruins for:
Debrusk
Shattenkirk
2024 5th
2025 3rd
1.) 20 Feb 2024 02:03:27
Vatrano is better than DeBrusk and Gudas is better than Shattenkirk. Not to mention DeBrusk and Shattenkirk are both UFAs, it's gonna take more than a 3rd and a 5th.
2.) 20 Feb 2024 18:20:54
Casual nailed it.

Totally think Calgary should have listened to offers from New Jersey and taken them because now---lookout, mini rebuild coming up especially if the end up trading Tkachuk.
He hails from Salem down in New Jersey
This Is where you'll find Johnny Hockey signing soon you'll see
He'll douse the flames, sign and quickly skate away
And listen to his home state back him and all shout Hooray
Maybe someday he'll be back in cowtown
But he'll be wearin the devil making Treliving look like a rodeo clown
I said, Go
Go Johnny Go,
Go,
Go Johnny Go
Go
Go Johnny Go
Go, Go
Go Johnny Go
He's good as gone...Johnny be bad :D
1.) 09 Jul 2022 23:14:34
Tkachuk hasn’t indicated that he wants to leave Calgary idk why people are jumping the gun and wanting to trade him, it’s literally confirmed that it was just teams delicately checking in on him. As for Johnny, Brad confirmed that he loves Calgary and wants to stay but they’re having troubles with numbers. What’s your deal? Lmfao
2.) 12 Jul 2022 05:08:39
The little youknowwhat is probably going to sign with NJ for a lower AAV over 7 years than Calgary offered him over 8 years.
That might be the best thing that could happen. With a large chunk of the money that won't be going to him Calgary can afford a top free agent center or winger to replace him.
Kadri or E Kane would my preference but I don't see Treliving signing Kane. If not one of those two there should be lots of other good UFAs available. Or if they go the trade route rentals like P Kane and Miller or RFAs like Dubois and Pastrnak could be options too.
Also if the little guy signs with Philly then winning isn't important to him and I say good riddance to any player that doesn't care about winning!
3.) 12 Jul 2022 18:49:38
The rumor today is the Flames offered the little guy over 10 mil year.
I sure hope that's not true. 10+ mil per year for 8 years is a very bad idea. Sad to say it does fall in line with Treliving's history of grinding RFAs hard and overpaying for UFAs.
4.) 13 Jul 2022 22:54:00
The rumor now is Columbus offered him 84 million over 7 years. That's 12 million a year, more than any other player except Connor McDavid.
Ridiculous!
5.) 13 Jul 2022 23:52:13
"It's not about the money"
Then he signs with Columbus for $12 million/ year.
6.) 14 Jul 2022 02:29:28
Initial reports of 12 mil per year were way off.
He actually signed for 9 point something. Some sites are saying 9.5 others 9.75 or 9.8. I predicted he'd sign for around 9.5 per year. Nailed that part but Columbus?!
That makes it even worse adding insult to injury. It wasn't about going home, it was about the money after all. He thought he'd get the same money or close going home but when he found out Philly didn't want him he took the next biggest offer.
18 Mar 2022 20:10:21
So,...I feel with what was offered for Hagel that Everyone here who seemed to Overprice players was right! That means most of my trades were point off...I mean on hahaha!
Welcome to NHL Trade Deadline where we all wear our hearts on our sleeves.
Good Luck to everyone who has something in mind for what they think would suit best for their/Your,..respective teams!!
1.) 18 Mar 2022 23:25:37
Wow, I was shocked at what the Hawks received for Hagel. Good for the Hawks.
05 Feb 2022 23:42:25
- Sean Avery Joins Oilers on PTO tryout will join the club after the All Star Weekend.
More - Kane moving down to 2nd line.
Apologies Oiler fans I couldn't resist (my mind needs to entertain myself.)
Also,......(pssst)
Leafs fan here,......Have atter. ;)
1.) 07 Feb 2022 19:13:31
Slava Voynov, Brendan Leipsic and Jake Virtanen join the Oilers aswell. Edmonton is extremely interested in Mitchell Miller and Logan Mailloux.
2.) 17 Feb 2022 15:16:44
Rumour has it Oilers see real potential in OJ Simpson as a strength and conditioning coach. Think his character and off ice mentorship will be invaluable to their young players….
3.) 27 Feb 2022 20:16:34
Lmao @mobbackenzie.
15 Jan 2022 15:17:46
Instead of hosting an all star game maybe all the teams that are behind the schedule could play three on three games or even just go to the shootout in order to play catch up hockey. Just a silly almost brilliant thought lol.
1.) 15 Jan 2022 20:23:23
Id hate to see the playoff picture impacted this way. , but it would be exciting and interesting. Also, wouldn't like it counting for personal stats, all kinds of records could be broken that shouldn't be.
Something on these lines, i'd like to see a Loser Tournament for draft positioning. 3 on 3, whatever.
( jus maybe not this year or next with Habs being so horrible)
This season is so Wrong, its got to end Wright! That's my slogan haha for 21/ 22 .
14 Sep 2021 14:58:14
With the rising C.V. numbers anyone else think that they may have to resort to the same system and divisions they had in place next year for this year as well?
1.) 15 Sep 2021 17:31:00
Think it all depends on politicians. I sure hope not though., don't get me wrong, I like seeing Habs play the Western Canadian teams, but not 7 or 8 times, or whatever it was. I miss the Habs vs Bruins, Penguins, Rangers ect.
2.) 16 Sep 2021 02:02:03
I agree @sosahabs24 and sure it is great to see some of the rivalries you mention and really I am still surprised last year played out with sucsess as we were at least able to view a season plus the playoffs because of the bubble formation. Guess I am just hoping for at least that to occur again if worse comes to worse. Fingers crossed though (like everyone) that c.v. numbers somehow reduces in order to get the norm back in place, just that now, numbers are back on the rise dramatically.

Maroon is out 4-6 weeks just sayin ;)
23 Jan 2024 03:29:53
Sammy, . I mean Chickenfoot ;) They just may. I added a 6th (for this year) thinking it should happen but added a 7th two years later for them to accept the deal to be a lock up for the Oilers.
I feel Vancouver is big and a player like Maroon, reuniting with Perry could not only add some muscle and some antagonizing effects while possibly becoming a strong third line or used on the forth line.
Nuge - Mac- Hyman
Kane-Drais-Foegele
Maroon- McLeod- Perry
Gane- Holloway-Desharais
They really make a 3rd and 4th line beome very interchangeable.
29 Aug 2023 18:46:17
Hrenklin
Yes I did a deal that gave the Leafs some cap space and Calgary takes it on. ( but ino will trade Hannifin and can be cap friendly by trading for picks and a prospect if they choose to do so.
Pssst for some reason you call Big Z slow and slew footed like he does nothing for a TEAM AND, . Yes I traded up for toughness, more reliable, more experience.
I feel like the Leafs now is very well rounded, and teams won't run our players (including our young guns and goalies)
24 Mar 2022 21:21:16
Yes they got a shot at both of them. Do you know who doesn't? The Habs.
Maybe Montreal has no heart or character if Price is not in net, ever think about it that way? ^^.
15 Jan 2022 15:14:38
Chara on the cheap fulfills a nasty D man or Risto would cost more say. Dermott and our 2nd.

I think Boyle heads to Tampa
