Colorado Avalanche
* Tristan Jarry $4,573,000
* Drew O'Connor $925,000
* Samuel Poulin &775,000
* Valtteri Puustinen $775,000
Pittsburg Penguins
* Alexandar Georgiev $3.4m
* Calum Ritchie $950,000
* 15% retained on Tristan Jarry’s Contract is $807,000
* Calle Rosen $775,000
* TJ Tynan $775,000
Idea of the trade was that two struggling goalies get new opportunities elsewhere.
The Av’s are in win mode now so they get a very good player in O’Connor who can make a difference. O’Connor is a UFA at end of season so Pittsburg resigning him was a gamble and feel that the Avalanche have a better shot.
Plus Puustinen can help the team today. Poulin also gets a fresh start and maybe he can make it work in Colorado.
Both of these players have term on their contract which benefits the Av’s.
Pittsburg has to retain salary only fair due to the term left on Jarry’s contract.
Pittsburg also gets a good prospect in Ritchie.
The other two players are simply throw in’s on the deal to make numbers and bodies work and both are UFA at end of season. They go right to the minors.

Correction - disregard tbe UFA/RFA note.

Thoughts?
1.) 23 Sep 2024 20:03:26
Why would Ottawa trade the Vezina winning goalie they just traded for.
2.) 24 Sep 2024 19:26:49
This would never happen.
3.) 26 Sep 2024 22:42:27
Ullmark for Jarry?!? lolol. good one. Get off the pipe.

Utah Trades
65th pick in the 2nd Round
96th pick in the 3rd Round
98th pick in the 4th Round
Pittsburgh Trades
Reilly Smith - retain full salary of $5m
or
Anaheim Trades
68th pick in the 3rd Round
79th pick in the 3rd Round
Pittsburgh Trades
Reilly Smith - retain full salary of $5m
Maybe retaining this much salary gets Pittsburg draft picks.

I don't think a team can retain a full salary.
2.) 18 Jun 2024 13:28:32
I’m not sure why Utah trades 3 picks for a 33 year-old that could probably be had for much less IF he chose to waive. (Older players are more likely to waive for a chance to win though. )
3.) 18 Jun 2024 18:32:40
You can only retain 50% and each team can only have (i think) 3 contracts which they retain on.
4.) 18 Jun 2024 21:45:19
79th is equal to 96 & 98?
5.) 18 Jun 2024 22:03:02
Utah could keep the picks and sign duclair for free.
6.) 19 Jun 2024 04:59:49
Thunderturkey is exactly right. 3 retained contracts and 50% each.

Ottawa Trades
7th pick in the 1st Round
25th pick in the 1st Round
Anton Forsberg (1 yr, $2.75m)
Pittsburgh Trades
Tristan Jarry (4yr, $5.375)
46th pick in the 2nd Round
1.) 14 Jun 2024 02:50:28
Jarry isn't worth close to that.
2.) 14 Jun 2024 21:09:13
PIT says start the car…START THE CAR!
3.) 17 Jun 2024 12:28:01
Why doesnt Ottawa take a look at DeSmith (UFA) and merzlikens (I think he's on the block) and use 1 draft pick on a guy like Hronek or something.

Pinballlisback - that’s a great trade idea!

Not sure this is an offer that makes sense for Ottawa.
