CAL - Andersson, Dube, 2nd 2023
TML - Nylander, Holl

hockey179

1.) 14 Jul 2022 19:20:35
Not a chance! Calgary has no interest in Nylander and wouldn't trade Andersson even if they did.

2.) 14 Jul 2022 19:46:55
If Tanev was healthy, I'd offer him in this package, but not Andersson.

Only way I could see this happening is if Dube were taken out and CGY were able to sign another 1RD for around $5mil/ yr, but John Klingberg is the only FA I can think of and he's gonna cost $6-7mil/ yr, if not more and I'm not sure Tyson Barrie would be welcome on Sutter's Team. I don't mind Holl as a 2/ 3RD though, he's Bigger, Tougher & Cheaper than Tanev, just not as Smart or Skilled Defensively

Dube still has more room to grow & improve. I was upset with him for the first 1/ 2 of the season while he adjusted to Sutter's system, but he did better towards the end of the season (we won't talk about his lack of playoff scoring though)

3.) 14 Jul 2022 21:26:14
Trading gritty players on good contracts who work their butts off for expensive lazy Nylander would really piss Sutter off.

4.) 15 Jul 2022 01:21:31
I like Nylander, he's a Sniper, not a Grit Guy

He was born in Calgary and can play Centre too! He's a Career 51% at FaceOffs and would likely be 55%+ if taking them more regularly. His Cap Hit is pretty good for the 35+ Goals and 80+ Points he'll give you each season as well, but I agree he might not be a Sutter type player. Just make sure to put him with Defensively responsible line mates.

5.) 15 Jul 2022 01:41:17
Also

Andersson > Klingberg

Andersson @4.4M/ yr for 4 years >>>> Klingberg @6-7M/ yr

Andersson is younger, stronger, grittier, scored more points this year and even beat Klingberg up in the playoffs.

6.) 15 Jul 2022 04:12:58
Yes I know, but I said replacement around $5mil, that Klingberg will demand $6-7m+, thus there weren’t any free agent options, only a trade for Barrie might work because EDM probably wants the cap space but Sutter would Vito that.

That said, having Barrie or Klingberg AND Nylander & Holl as opposed to just Tanev (or Andersson) + Dube wouldn’t be that bad. It would definitely increase the Flames Scoring Threat but would hinder their Defence for sure. So 3 > 2, but I agree. it’s definitely not ideal trade.

7.) 15 Jul 2022 06:42:39
AFAIC there are 4 players on the Flames who are pretty much "untouchable" for now.

Matthew Tkachuk
Elias Lindholm
Rasmus Andersson
Andrew Mangiapane

That doesn't mean that none of them can be traded, just it'd take one heck of a good offer to get him. An offer starting with a clear upgrade (Flames would add of course) or in Tkachuk's case where an upgrade is highly unlikely a really good package including at least one good young player who can take his place on the top line.

Bonehead's list is probably longer than mine might not include Mangiapane probably does include Markstrom and Tanev among others.

I'd be reluctant to trade Zadorov too especially now that Gudbranson is gone. The same goes for Coleman with the forwards he brings a nice combination of skill, two way play, grit and physicality.

car-Bean,2020 1st (their own or tml whichever is lower)
tml-Barrie

hockey179

1.) 27 Jan 2020 19:38:53
Barrie ain’t worth that, not with the season he’s has.

2.) 27 Jan 2020 21:50:06
He’s on pace for 45 points even with his slow start to the season. I do think it’s too much though. Isn’t bean developing really nicely? I don’t know if Carolina would give up him or a 1st for a rental.

3.) 27 Jan 2020 22:59:02
It’s funny how people on this site think Manson is worth trading a young top 6 forward like Kapanen and Barrie isn’t even worth a first round pick. Barrie is improving btw. He has 4 points in his last 5 games.

I also see Bean being a Timothy Liljgren type player so we don’t really need him when we already have Liljgren.

4.) 28 Jan 2020 00:29:04
You say that like Kapanen for sure can get a 1st. Barrie is definitely worth a 1st IMO, but maybe not to Carolina.

5.) 28 Jan 2020 05:35:47
Barrie is a first to most teams as stated by ebsolutely, Carolina is an easy team to think of as not worth it.

I'm having a much harder time thinking of a team that'll give a first for kapanen or johnsson.

6.) 28 Jan 2020 14:29:40
Manson is locked up for a few years at a reasonable hit. Barrie is a UFA after this year. Term > Rental when considering a return. Barrie for a 1st to a playoff team might make sense. Not to CAR and not including any other assets.

7.) 28 Jan 2020 21:09:48
Just remember Nashville gave a 1st for Hartman. Kappy/ Johnsson are worth 1sts easy. Late 1sts tho.

tml-sparkes,leivo

hockey179

1.) 24 Aug 2018 18:33:36
Caps are fine for goalies and Leivo doesn't get Hobbs or a 2nd imo. Holtby, Copley, Samsonov is a nice top 3 for goalie depth.

2.) 24 Aug 2018 20:38:44
Samsonov is a good prospect for sure, but if I were running the caps, he would be playing a lot, whether in the AHL or Europe (not sure of his contract situation) . Backing up Holtby who is going to play 60+ games isn’t ideal for a young guy with that potential and Copely rocked almost a 3.00GAA and under a .900 save% in 41 AHL games last season. Doesn’t exactly scream confidence for 18-22 games this season with holtby on the bench (More if he gets hurt) . A back up needs to go .500 on a good team, I would t bet on that with him. Not sure if this is the right deal for them but saying their goalie depth is good for this upcoming season isn’t exactly true. Losing Grubrauer really hurt.

3.) 24 Aug 2018 20:52:44
I don’t know value wise of Hobbs really but I think Leafs are a good place to shop for a back up goalie. Mchillinney was good last season and is a proven veteran, I think Pickard is a capable backup and an upgrade on a few back ups and Sparks although not getting a chance to prove it in the NhL, he’s 52-18-1 in the AHL over the past 2 seasons with a combined 1.88GAA .929sv% and then went 14-5 with a .915% and a 2.22 gaa to win the Calder Cup. That’s as good of resume as you’re going to find on a guy that hasn’t got to prove it in the NHL. He’s not a guarantee at all, but he has value to teams looking for depth at that position.

4.) 24 Aug 2018 20:54:50
Yeah but Caps don’t need an unproven back up for next season like Sparks. Samsonov will play lots wether it’s in the KHL or AHL and when he’s ready Holtby will be backing him up/ traded just like Fluery and Bishop. They can sign a veteran free agent goalie if they need.

5.) 25 Aug 2018 04:59:59
Would Howard @50% retained from Wings be of interest to Caps? Looking for at least a 3rd, maybe becomes 2nd if re-signs or Caps make conference finals

Also if they no longer want Copley, we can take him to play back up and help us get Jack Hughes (I can dream haha)

Another option could be Lehtonen, would be a decent back up.

3.) 20 Jun 2018 22:57:25
Sparks has been dominant in the AHL but hasn’t had a sniff of NHL action since 2016. And in his 17 career games with the leafs has a GAA over 3.00 and a save% under .900. That’s concerning. I watched him a ton with the marlies and think he’s come miles since then, but I believe he will back up Andersen this year. hopefully get 25-30 games in to keep Freddy’s starts lower than his 66 last year and re-evaluate what you have with sparks then. Although leafs signed Pickard to a one-way contract today too meaning they have 4 goalies on NHL only contracts including mchilliney.
