Heard that Vancouver is looking for a top 5/10 pick in the 2016 draft.
Edmonton: Dan Hamhuis
Vancouver: 2016 1st, Nikita Nikitin
Edmonton gets a solid top 2 defenceman on the team to play with Andrej Sekera. Edmonton also loses Nikita Nikitin.
Vancouver gets their pick that's most likely going to be in the top5/10 (i know my oilers). Nikita's contract is only for one more year, it's not like they're going to have him for another 5.

I can't see Vancouver trading Hamhuis for pretty much only a 1st, plus they'd be screwed for defence other than Bieksa (whose likely to be traded) or edler.

I think that if Connor mcdavid is as good as they say he is, the oilers might be a playoff team. That said they may not make it far, but I think that they will be a playoff team,or at least higher in the standings

Ohh @DraftMcDavid he knows his Oilers. Bieksa was traded and ya I agree they'd be pretty slim on the blue line plus don't think they'd want to trade a player like hamhuis to a division rival

I don't think the oilers are going to be bottom feeders anymore. playoffs are a stretch but I don't think we will finish on the bottom

One player won make that much of a difference turning a non-playoff team into a playoff team. He's only gunna be on the ice 1/3 of the game at the most. If anyone is going to make the oilers a playoff team it's going to be Cam Talbot.

BJ96 it's not just one player though. As you said talbot could be the difference maker, McDavid, all the existing players under a new coach and a little better if a blue line.

Oilers11, yes I agree it'll take everyone on the roster for the oilers to make the playoffs in argueably the toughest division. I just got the impression he meant they'll make the playoffs just because of Mcdavid. If anything Sekera will be more important piece for this year.
