Ottawa Senators require Top 9 Forward, while LA Kings immediately require Defensive resources?
To LA:
Erik Brannstrom + 5th Round Pick
To Ottawa:
Brendan Lemieux + 3rd Round Pick
Discuss?

I’d rather see Brannstrom be played in Ottawa. Josh Brown and Zaitsev are awful, so he should be moved up shortly.

Isn't Brannstrom still regarded as a highly touted prospect? . Or is this a what you see is what you get kinda thing out of him?

1) I completely would agree with that since I think much of the same and tend to question JB and NZ since they create more back end mistakes. But currently Erik is only an AHL player being bounced back and forth to the NHL and times is running out since Ottawas Defensive talent pool will force this one way or another.
2) Unfortunately after 3 years of playing in the AHL and NHL back and forth leaves you as a prospect and nothing else? For a team that has so many prospects it's no loss afterall.

1) Agreed, Josh Brown and Nikita Zaitsev tend to be left making more of the mistakes on the backend. Erik though has been moved up and down maybe 5 times now? This doesn't say much for a player once traded for the likes of Mark Stone
2) He is still a prospect yes. With talent but stuck on them with years of defensive talent waiting (Sanderson-Thompson-Kleven) if he had more value he would have been traded already imho.

Everything about this transaction was a score. Ottawa receives and active NHL player with flexibility and the type of character the team looks for overall. While St Louis also receives the financial benefits (at the time) to better manage themselves. Fortunately through all this Ottawa unloaded what begin to be a growing problem with a stubborn player whos been waived in less time then he could have placed his uniform on.
