BUF trades Grigorenko, Girgenson, Ennis to TML for Kessel

Agree3 Disagree8

03 Mar 2015 20:22:35
one of NYI/STL 1sts there instead of ennis and I could see it going soewhere.

however, I wouldn't lke it personally since I don't believe in grigorenko, but that's just my persnal opinion. of course he does have value as a relatively highly rated prospect.

03 Mar 2015 20:49:41
Leafs say hell yeah

04 Mar 2015 01:52:49
I think toronto would make that trade but I hope they don't I'm not a fan of grigorenko or Ennis

04 Mar 2015 11:43:17
If Buffalo is getting Kessel than Reinhart is coming back at least

04 Mar 2015 14:04:01
It's highly unlikely Kessel gets traded to a rebuilding team. It just doesn't make any sense.

04 Mar 2015 15:54:28
Hockey's future, which I believe to be unbiased and quite reliable, gives laughton a score of 7.5, which, according to their scales, is a 2nd lien player. that's far from elite and definately someone you wouldn't not be building a team around.

04 Mar 2015 16:20:45
7.5 is a really good prospect, that's not elite, but how is that not what the leafs should be building around, along with the young players and draft picks.

04 Mar 2015 20:52:25
^@Leafhate

The point is, Kessel is Toronto's best player, they need one VERY good(bordering on elite) piece coming back, not a really good prospect that projects to be a 2nd line winger.

It's moot anyways, Philly is not trading for Kessel.

04 Mar 2015 22:37:38
well that posted on the wrong post haha.

but wither way, I said why laughto isn't that great. 7.5 isn't anythign special. its just a 2nd liner, far from something teams covet or would build around. if kessel is traded its for however many assets, abd at least one of which would have the potential to be a very very good player, whcih obvioulsy someone projected to be a 2nd liner is not.

05 Mar 2015 10:38:55
Wow teams don't covet young top 6 forwards anymore Shankar, thanks for the update.
I see now how crazy I was to think any team might want good young top 6 forwards, silly me
@theungr81 why does the return for kessel have to be an elite piece instead of some really good ones.
The leafs are starting a rebuild so there's plenty of time to add elite talent down the road
I understand the deal kessel for elite prospect+ School of thought but I disagree with it or I would have posted a kessel for drouin trade that would made drais_94 cry

05 Mar 2015 14:29:23
@leafhate

I never said the return had to be an elite player, I said at least 1 very good (bordering on elite) piece coming back. Schenn and Laughton may be pieces you can build around, but in the context of the trade you proposed, they just flat out are not good enough of a return for Kessel, WITHOUT a 1st coming back (which was mentioned above).

And the logic that it's better to add depth when you trade your most valuable player bc you can add elite talent later is wrong. BC there is no guarantee anything you add down the road is going to be elite. At least when Toronto trades Kessel they have some choice in who they get back.

This is all MOOT anyways bc Kessel is not getting traded to Philly.

05 Mar 2015 17:41:21
sure teams covet oung 2nd liners. I agree, I used the wrogn word there. but like I also said, you don't build your team around a future 2nd liner, I don't think you can argue that because its obviously true. also, its also obvious that the pieces coming back for kesel would have to be some pieces that TOR view they could build around.

05 Mar 2015 19:34:01
^ saying Brayden schenn doesn't have the potential to be a really good player is a joke @shankar
Scott Laughton is more unlikely IMO but he too has a chance to be a real good player.

05 Mar 2015 21:39:56
i get schenn is still young and all, but again, just a 2nd liner that will likely never exceed the producion/play of what you except out of 2nd liner. quality player? of course. something to build a team around? definately not.

05 Mar 2015 22:56:16
@shankar
I want to discuss hockey but you're cherry picking my comments and arguing semantics so just post a better kessel trade idea, your own if possible.

05 Mar 2015 23:15:37
@thegrn1 if you can post a better kessel trade, why haven't you.
I appreciate the discussion and agree with some of what you said but if the question is who gets dealt for kessel, how can you tell me my answer is wrong.
you haven't even gave an answer.
Even if you actually give an answer only time will tell.

06 Mar 2015 14:20:38
@leafhate

lol - you're hilarious. The only thing I have been arguing about is that in your trade proposal, there needs to be a 1st round pick coming back to Toronto. I also have said I don't believe Kessel will get traded to Philly (bc they have three guys that can play the RW). I've said both of those things maybe 3 times in my replies. So I am not sure where the confusion is coming from.

Bottom line - Kessel is likely to get traded to a playoff (or close to) team; there are only going to be a handful of serious suitors; and the trade will be similar in form to the Rick Nash deal.

06 Mar 2015 16:05:13
You're argument is that their needs to be a 1st rd pick or a truly elite prospect coming back to toronto in a kessel trade.
You're wrong.
That's would be nice.
I think the leafs will try.
The leafs might not be able to get an elite prospect or 1st round pick in a kessel deal considering theirs only going to be a handful of serious suitors.

So getting back a young top 6 forward, solid prospect, 2nd round pick, + for kessel is hardly illogical and terrible if the leafs move kessel this summer.

I hope you get some pleasure from the arrogant disrespectful comments you make about peoples ideas.

06 Mar 2015 21:11:13
And I hope you learn to read one day. *shakes head*

06 Mar 2015 21:13:31
again, you make no sense. tell me why TOR would trade kessel if the return is not something that they are very happy with, which common sense suggests would include at least one high end young piece (player or pick)

06 Mar 2015 21:56:35
@shank

I encourage you to stop indulging this. You're not getting anywhere.

06 Mar 2015 22:22:23
Ya ok I'm wrong because I can't read.
That's logical isn't it.
@grn1 you're a self righteous fool who should look in the mirror.

So Brayden schenn and Scott Laughton are not high end young peices now.good to know.

And I don't make sense because umm you disagree I guess eh @shankar
You're a joke and a coward IMO

06 Mar 2015 22:41:14
yeah I really should, eh. stupidity really gets to me sometimes though haha

07 Mar 2015 00:44:14
Ya I'm stubborn and I have trust issues so when someone tells me My answer is wrong and can't tell me what the correct answer is I should just take their word for it. Good discussion boys

07 Mar 2015 00:53:16
Oh ya please forgive me if I sent a message to @shankar instead of @thegrn1 or the other way around, it really felt like I was arguing with the same person, almost like the same person but with two names but that's just silly haha

08 Mar 2015 06:56:18
yea I can understand how arguing with a couple logical people can seem confusing when you yourself are totally illogical. you're forgiven.

08 Mar 2015 13:30:26
Brayden schenn and Scott Laughton for other non high end round pieces Colton Orr and frazer mclaren
