Another trade to address Calgary's need for a top 6 right shot RW who can score goals.

Calgary trades:
Tyler Pitlick @1.75M UFA 2022
2022 first round pick
2022 second round pick


Montreal trades:
Tyler Toffoli @4.25M UFA 2024

Gaudreau – Lindholm – Tkachuk
Mangiapane – Backlund – Toffoli
Dube – Monahan – Coleman
Lucic - Richardson - Ritchie / Lewis

Calgary has just enough cap space to fit Toffoli in with Pitlick's cap hit gone.
Alternately if Montreal is willing to retain 50% on Toffoli Calgary could remove Pitlick from the and make it Dube or a good prospect instead of the second.

What do you think does anything need to change and if so what?

I don't see Montreal retaining 50% on Toffoli for 2.5 years, but if they did, yes, you would be sending Dube + a 1st + a Top Prospect.

Pitlick + Two (2x) Second Round Picks + a 3rd Round Pick (/ or Equivalent Prospect) OR say Pitlick + Dillon Dube + 2nd Round Pick + 3rd Round Pick (/ or Jeremie Poirier) would be more appropriate IMO

Toffoli has scored 10 goals in his past 48 Games, so it's not like he's on fire and his value is super high right now. He also turns 30 in a couple months, but he does come on a decent contract and is scoring 0.65PPG, so he's worth a couple 2nd RD Picks + Something, but not a 1st without the 50% retention.

@MoxNox and @NotACasual What about pursuing RW Oliver Wahlstrom out of New York? Any interest and if so what would it cost the Flames or is he too young and inexperienced yet?

Wahlstrom is young and the Iles really like him. They won't be trading him.

I Agree, hit Disagree on mistake, stupid page was re-loading lol.

A 1st + Ryan Francis or Emil Heineman is fine by me. A bit of an over payment and they would need to take Pitlick back as well, but whatever it takes to get him, I'd be okay with at this point. I was essentially saying he's worth Three (3x) 2nd's + a 3rd, as a 1st is far more valuable than a couple 2nds and Dube is worth a late first to me, but Two (2x) 2nds for sure when you look at the probability of playing in the NHL for each Pick/ Round position.

Like Forsberg, Toffoli is a LW, so I wouldn't be surprised if Mangianpane stayed on the RW. Maybe they still pursue Connor Brown in addition as well, since he's a true Right Shot RW for say Monahan, Dube or Zadorov + Something. Or Dube + Something for Crouse would be good as well. Still need to upgrade those 3 Guys for a 1/ 2C another RW and/ or another Defensive Power Killing Forward for the 3rd Line LW/ RW with Backlund and Coleman.

I was going to mention paying attention to Nick Paul at 2C before the game too and he looked really good there last night. Christian Fischer and Luke Glendenning are cheap 3rd/ 4th Line Options as well. That Daniel Sprong out of Washington might be a cheap offensive RW option as well.

Whatever the Oilers have is super contagious, cause the Flames are on a bad losing streak now too. I'm sick and tired of waiting, some moves need to be made sooner than later. Give Pelletier and even Ruzicka a better look already. Both Ritchie and Pitlick aren't producing anything at all and shoot directly at the Goalie instead of the openings and net behind them.

Watching Nick Paul again tonight against the Oilers. He’s not a bad budget player at all. Good energy, composure, vision and a decent shot too.

A 2nd round pick should should get the deal done for UFA pending Paul, as a sens fan in my opinion.

He’s definitely not worth a 2nd unfortunately maybe a 5th or 7th. Ottawa only traded a 7th Round Pick to acquire former 2nd Round Pick Dylan Gambrell from San Jose and they are/ were putting up similar numbers.

Ottawa should Trade Chris Tierney for sure and maybe Gambrell too and then re-sign and play Paul at Centre.
