Blockbuster trade between Edmonton and Anaheim

Edmonton:
Zach Kassian (3.2m x 2 years)
Tyson Barrie (4.5m x 2 years)
Oscar Klefbom (4.167m x 1 year LTIR)
Dylan Holloway (Former 2020 1st round pick (14th overall) on ELC)
2023 1st round pick

Anaheim:
John Gibson (6.4m x 5 years)

This trade would need to involve multiple players from Edmonton to clear the cap space and also needs to include 1sts or prospects to incentivize Anaheim with the package that they're getting.

Edmonton needs to solidify its crease and get an established starting goalie, Gibson's salary and term make him an ideal candidate for a trade target.

I'm confident the value is there but I think it depends how people feel about Anaheim shopping their best asset to a team in their division. Edmonton might still need to add in order to make it work.

What are your thoughts??

Also keeping in mind that Nurse's extension kicks in next season so Edmonton will need to shed a lot of salary to fit everyone else in including Puljujarvi's and Yamamoto's extensions.

I don't know if Edmonton would need to sweeten the offer with another pick or player/ prospect but I really like the idea of these two teams making a trade, Anaheim is rebuilding and Gibson's prime years can't go to waste carrying the Ducks any further.

Edmonton is trying to contend and a reliable elite goalie has been one of several obstacles holding them back these past few seasons. Other than them both being Pacific division rivals I think the trade makes sense for both teams.

I’ve come the realization that John Gibson isn’t the player he once was. He’s had 3 average seasons in a row and isn’t putting up good enough numbers to be worth a ton in trade value like you’ve proposed.

Anthony Stolarz is playing much better and comes at 1/ 7th the price; I’d pursue him instead.

Anaheim would accept that but I think there will be a better option for edmonton.

If Jake Oettinger keeps playing the way he has been see Dallas trading Binnington and the oilers should like him more than Gibson. Dallas wouldn't take all those cap dumps back though. One sure, maybe even two if Holloway and the first are both coming back with them but not all three.

Binnington is from St Louis I believe not Dallas. But Husso is doing well there and Bimmer could use another shot.

@Hockey_Dad

You are correct. I got mixed up who took Binnington's job and which team he plays for.
