San Jose looking to add that one piece to go for a championship and I truly believe that Kessel is that player him and Pavelski are amazing together which Gm Wlison knows after the Olympics and let's not be unrealistic if Kessel had one of Pavelski, Marleau, or Thornton as a centre for a season and knowing that Kessel is durable he could be a perennial 40-50 goal scorer and 85-90 point getter

Tor: Hertl, Kennedy, Sheppard, 1st in 2015

Sj: Kessel, Robidas, Booth

Agree12 Disagree20

Toronto takes that and runs

Since when is San Jose looking for that final piece? Were doing a rebuild on the fly.

Not a chance TO does that. Kessel will fetch a boatload of assets from another team. Everyone on here is either a leaf fan or a leaf hater. I can't wait for Kessel to be traded for a great package so all the haters have nothing to say.

Just like all the comments about Clarkson: "good luck with that contract, he's a lifer, garbage contract by the leafs, you'll never trade him, no one would even offer you a bag of pucks for him"

Well. He's gone. The "immovable" contract has been moved.

We shall wait and see what Kessel fetches. I'll be here waiting.

Shouldn't a "perennial 40-50 goal scorer and 85-90 point getter" at least get 40 goals and 85 points once before we even THINK about them doing it on a yearly basis?

Lol @ Stammer2Lears2016 he was traded for a guy that might not ever play again

@Juice61 you mean with bozak? right. sorry. no one is going to score 40+ with bozak no offence to him. but u don't find many 40+ goalscorers without elite centers.

@Juice

not really. it's pretty simple speculation that Kessel will be a better player with better players around him.

You could say the same thing about any other player. My bet is, you wouldn't have touched the keyboard if this trade involved a non-Leaf player.

@BigZ & THEGR81

No, you have to get 40 goals and 85 points to be considered a 40 goal scorer and 85 point producer. By your logic, every 20 goal scorer in the league is now considered a 30 goal scorer if on another team, any 30 goal scorer is now a 40 goal scorer and so on and so forth.

You have to actually do it first.

THEGR81 oh that's horse dung so you are telling me Kris Kunitz will score 30+ goals with Tyler Bozak. He was a third line winger In Anaheim before he went to Pits and let me tell you he never touched 30 goals.

@everyone above:
By Tdot134: "knowing that Kessel is durable HE COULD BE a perennial 40-50 goal scorer and 85-90 point getter. " The operative phrase "HE COULD BE" is a speculation of future production, not an assessment of past performance. If Thornton could make Jonathan Cheechoo the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy winner, the speculation is what could Kessel do as Thorton's RW? Since Kessel has 2-37 goal seasons on his resume with Bozak as his center, it is not unreasonable to expect more goals with a true top center.

@juice

Ugh. I honestly can't respond to this unintelligible dribble.

Let's just close the loop - I agree with you guys, you are correct. There is no way players have more success when placed in situations where they have more talent around them.

More over, when the poster said Kessel "could" and I called it "speculation", instead of what that actually means, It instead shall mean definitive proof that Kessel will be a 45 goal 85 pt player.

And lastly - @returnofrealisticleaffan- yes, that's what I was saying. Kunitz would be a +30 goal scorer with Bozak. I wasn't making a general
Observation that the quality of ones teammates impacts the players numbers. Genius

For those people thar were confused I clearly stated that if Kessel were centered by eiter either Thornton, Marleau, or Pavelski he COULD be a perennial 40-50 goal scorer and a 85-90 point producer

I don't get why Robidas and Booth and everyone are in that deal, because they definitely don't add any significant value.

@tdot

Only the haters are confused.
