To Toronto Maple Leafs : Sean Monahan and Sam Bennett


- Leafs play Monahan as W
- Flames play Nylander as W

I’d love to see a line of Hyman-Bennett-Simmonds, and Leafs acquire a 20-30 goal scorer in Monahan. Matthews and Monahan goal scoring combo on both lines would be sick. Flames have been wanting to play Lindholm as their 1C for a while now.

Personally, the value is likely close to even, honestly, I'd think Nylander=Monahan but Bennett>Mikheyev, but my personal opinion

I just don't like the look of that second line, especially with Monahan being a goal scorer, Tavares being a goal scorer and Robertson being a shot-first guy. Even though Toronto's d-core has been a lot better, I still think that if Willy ever gets moved, its for a dman, not a forward, and if its for a forward, it'd be more lateral, because both Robertson/ Tavares are goal scorers.

Good idea, I personally just don't like the fit.

@TSS that’s true, I like the idea of Nylander for a defensemen but idk who he could pull. It would definitely take a RHD.

Nylander + a pick or prospect for Monahan maybe, Mikhayev for Bennett probably but Calgary wouldn't be giving up 2 centers without getting at least one back.

If Monahan's gone, then Benny becomes the 3rd line center. What he wants, where he's at his best and probably exactly what he needs to start approaching his potential.

Personally though, what I'd like to see the Flames do is trade Johnny for a proven 1st line RW, move Monny to LW (replacing Johnny) and Benny to center.

@moxnix Gaudreau for Konecny, Prospect/1ST ?

Philly has been interested in Gaudreau for years and has tried to pry him out of Calgary before his 1st season as a Flame. I honestly think Gaudreau could fetch Konecny, 1st and high prospect. But I don’t think Konecny can even come close to replacing Gaudreau’s offensive production. I’m pretty sure we have Matt Gaudreau in Stockton aswell so we could also do a minor swap involving Matt Gaudreau and Buddy Robinson for a low pick aswell, I’m not 100% on that though

Wow is Monahan ever overrated he’s just not good he’s a product of Guadreau and he’s more invisible then Alexander Semin in the playoffs. I’d rather have a defensively responsible solid 3c in Backlund 10/ 10 times over Monahan. You guys can disagree as I’m sure you will but I’m right and thank god Sean Monahan will never be a leaf. Mikheyev has also out produced Bennet as a rookie.

Also the leafs are 1st place in the NHL so why the H@ell would they move a core player and mix up the team chemistry. 1st place teams don’t trade core players mid season unless they’re getting a clear upgrade which Monahan definitely isn’t and on top of that they have a huge surplus of goal scorers.

If the leafs were to move a core player in the offseason due to a early playoff exit i'd do this. ( None of the big 4 will be moved for forwards. )

Calgary- Rasmus Andersson and Mikeal Backlund 25% retained.

Realistically now the only deal to be made would be a younger Nylander for Guadreau/ Lindholm if the flames are looking to get younger and get a player under term control. Personally I’d hate to see Nylander go for a rental as good as Guadreau is.

I'm not entirely sold on Konecny, mostly because he isn't much bigger than Gaudreau. However he is a pretty good player and he is a right shot right wing. So with the adds yeah I'd probably do it.

Everyone knows Gaudreau's dream is playing for Philly so they'd be pretty confident of resigning him for less than he'd sign for anywhere else too.
