Another bad contract that Buffalo has to get rid of is Okposa who's signed through till 2023. I think that they'll need to dump him to sign better players in the coming offseason (to keep Eichel happy and compete). Sens are rebuilding and should take on bad contracts for pieces.

Buf: Okposo + Paterka (great chemistry with Steuzle)

Ott: Stepan (UFA after this season)

I believe taking stepan is for Buffalo to pay for him. I don't think this is enough to dump okposo either.

What about zaitsev? If ott wants to trade him, he's more useful than okposo, and it could be an off-season trade, as ott has young defenders almost ready to come up.

Okposo and paterka for zaitsev?

Yeah I could see it being Zaitsev instead. I think you’d be suprised what they’d give up if Eichel said he wanted a trade because his team sucks and he wants to contend now.

Okposo has 2 more seasons at 6 million per, after this one. So not only do they take a cap dump, they give Buffalo a player they put on LTIR, more savings, but get only the one asset back.
Remember what Marleau got for one season of a million cap dump, or what Staal got for Detroit.
It will cost more than what you suggest.

@Renidrag yeah I included Stepan because he’s off the books. I thought maybe Sens would accept because It would make Stuezle happy and provide them a B prospect that he has chemistry with. Maybe they ask for something else as well.
