EDM - Barrie

DAL - Hakanpaa

Oil save 3M in salary and get a bottom pair stay at home D. Dallas gets a PP quart back to replace Klingberg.

Agree4 Disagree7

Would want Dallas to add a Pick or Prospect, but this helps both Teams, Good Trade Idea.

Barrie has negative value imo and the big reason why Klingberg wasn’t signed is because Hieskanen is ready to take over the top pp. Suter is solid on the 2nd line.

Huge no from Dallas.

Barrie is a Great Offensive D-Man on a Valuable Team Friendly contract. He is not a Cap Dump, nor does he Hold Negative Value

Barrie => Klingberg & Suter

Barrie & Suter would both play on PP Unit #2, since DAL only has 6 Forwards with Better Scoring/ PPG Statistics than them

Weegar-Andersson
Hanifin-Barrie
Zadorov-Tanev

This would be a Very Good Defence for CGY

Weegar-Andersson
Graves/ Zadorov-Tanev
Muzzin/ Forbort-Holl/ Subban/ Stralman/ Stone

Would be even better ?.

Barrie is better than 99% of the D in the league on the PP. Dallas is close to a perfect fit IMO, they want to be competitive and they have a need for an offensive D. They’ll have to do some maneuvering to take on Barrie’s cap but at 4.5M it’s not bad at all. Wouldn’t Klingberg be a good comparison? He just signed for 7M.

Absolutely, You’re On Pointe @Ebs!

What about adding and swapping Alexander Radulov for Jesse Puljujarvi!?!

02 Aug 2022 14:18:21
Alexander Radulov plays in KHL. Klingberg is much better then Barrie in his own end and on the PP. teams don’t run 2 dman on PPs rarely ever. Hieskanen is the man in Dallas so Barrie is not needed. Maybe Montreal would take him for Drouin or Seattle would take him for free.

Barrie isn't as good as some of you seem to think. He's terrible defensively and not near good enough offensively to make up for it.

02 Aug 2022 17:30:19
Yes, Barrie is an Offensive D-Man. His Play in his own Zone leaves much to be desired, so he needs a Strong D-Partner. That said the Stats/ Facts don't lie. Playing on a Defensively weak Team in EDM:

Barrie:
20/ 21: 8G+40A=48PTS/ 56GP= 0.86PPG +/ -= +5 Blks= 59 ATOI= 21:24
21/ 22: 7G+34A=41PTS/ 73GP= 0.56PPG +/ -= +3 Blks= 73 ATOI= 18:58
Klingberg:
20/ 21: 7G+29A=36PTS/ 53GP= 0.68PPG +/ -= -15 Blks= 52 ATOI= 22:42
21/ 22: 6G+41A=47PTS/ 74GP= 0.64PPG +/ -= -28 Blks= 77 ATOI= 22:13

Barrie > Klingberg, especially @$4.5mil vs. $7mil

Other than Michael Stone, CGY's D-Men had a Tough time Scoring on the PP, so bringing in a Guy like Barrie would be very beneficial to their PP. Signing PK Subban &/ or Stone would definitely be the Cheaper & More Physical options

There's no rule you can't play 2 D-Men on the PP, especially when they're just as Offensive as Your Forwards.

Oops, I meant Denis Gurianov, not Radulov; can't keep my Russian's straight lol.

02 Aug 2022 18:28:58
He’s not as bad defensively as some of you seem to think. By no means am I saying he’s strong defensively but he’s not bad in his own zone especially paired with a stronger defensive partner. I think I read his in zone play is pretty good but his zone entry defensive is bad. Also he’s one of the top scoring defensive over the past 5+ years or even the past few years.

If my team was in need of an offensive RHD, Barrie at 4.5M would be a no brainer.

Dallas laughs hysterically.

03 Aug 2022 03:36:45
Biggest reason DAL would turn this trade down is because Hakanpaa is one of their Top-2 Penalty Killing D-Men. Colin Millers hasn’t played nearly as much PK Minutes so a PK replacement would be required and that’s definitely not Barrie.

03 Aug 2022 20:23:32
Dallas laughs because there giving up this stud 25 minute a night D? You might not think it’s realistic but Dallas is trading away a player with minimal value.
