VB, been thinking about Toronto adding Karlsson like you said. The only way I take him is if Reilly goes the other way.

Pens - Karlsson (no retention) and Rust

Leafs- Reilly, Cowan, Robertson, Peksa and Jarnkrok.

I read that Jarnkrok actual salary this year is about a million.

Rielly won’t waive his NMC.

Yah I dont see Rielly waving. Maybe to Vancouver to be home or to a top team. But I dont seem him doing so for the Pens and tbh I dont think many teams are in the market for what he brings at the price he is at unfortunately. Can only hope a full year of him and Carlo pays off at this point.

I don't think Reilly is as bad as people are making him out to be. it is just his turn to be the whipping boy. personally, Karlsson may be better offensive but never found him to be a stalwart defenseman that actually defends.

I would do that from a leafs POV.

17 Jul 2025 23:23:23
Reilly tries to play like an offensive man, but lacks the big shot from the point. Only really scores off the rush or coming into the high slot when the Leafs have control of the puck. His passing is meh at best and he lacks the foot speed he use to have to be effectively evasive. It is what it is at this point. He has great games and he has awful ones. He scores some clutch goals and is the cause of some being scored on us as well.

@MG69 in his “awful games” he’s still a very good player compared to someone like Holl.

19 Jul 2025 22:58:14
Oh absolutely. Holl is awful. He's a double edge sword kinda player who has about the same amount of good games as he does bad ones. It is what it is at this point. Hopefully a solid off-season and full year with Carlo will have him playing good more times than not.

22 Jul 2025 10:54:42
EVERYONE is a good player compared to Holl.

22 Jul 2025 16:13:35
I sometimes sit with a drink and wonder what could have been had Dubas not protected Holl and instead protected McCann. We'd have a versatile forward still, capable of playing all three forward positions effectively. *Sigh*.

26 Jul 2025 22:55:19
That McCann move was absolutely bizarre, and ruined whatever credibility Dubas had left in the eyes of many.

He was a terrible GM. A poor judge of talent, overspent in negotiations, and when his job was on the line he traded a ridiculous amount of assets to keep his job. He should never have been allowed to trade away all those assets in his final year.
