Chicago Winnipeg trade

Chicago
Dano
1st
And a conditional pick

Winnipeg
Ladd 36% retained
Harrison
Fraser

Good trade for Chicago big top 6 forward and a depth d man. And Fraser.

Good trade for Winnipeg.

Anybody know the condition?

They win the cup 3rd 2018.

2.) 26 Feb 2016 02:43:38
Believe it's a 3rd if they win the cup. Not sure which year.

3.) 26 Feb 2016 03:05:18
If the Hawks win the cup they get the pick.

4.) 27 Feb 2016 01:06:28
I hope Chicago gets knocked out first round.

So one year ago was the jets/ Sabres trade

Jets-
Drew Stafford, Tyler Myers, Joel armia, Brendan Lemieux, and a first (jack roslovic)

Sabres-
Evander Kane, Zach Bogosian, and Jason kasdorf

Who's has won the trade so far?
Who will have won it in the end?

TheBlackAlpaca

1.) 11 Feb 2016 02:28:28
Jets did.

2.) 11 Feb 2016 03:16:45
I like it from Jets. Kane didn't fit in and Myers is an upgrade from Bogosian.

3.) 11 Feb 2016 03:30:30
The Jets smoked Buffalo in that trade. Lemieux and Roslovic haven't even played yet and they looked pretty damn good.

I was just wondering if there was anyone else who thinks that Seattle should get draft picks the year before the draft before their first year. Mid to late maybe right before playoff teams? It couldn't be early because it would be unfair to the kid if they were NHL ready. It would allow Seattle to get a jump on their prospect pool. They could trade down get a few extra picks as well.

1.) 28 Jan 2019 05:39:32
No. and after the team Vegas was able to assemble, these new era of expansion teams don't need any help. compared to the rules that were in place back in Ottawa/ Tampas day, and the Wild, Preds ect., Seattle will already get a huge advantage and really won't be a typical expansion team.

2.) 28 Jan 2019 06:09:31
I'm not sure how much I buy into that. Vegas was gifted players because other managements mismanaged horribly. And vegas doesn't have a very deep prospect pool. Which is my point.

3.) 28 Jan 2019 06:48:51
They were still given a much greater advantage then the previous expansion teams alpaca. But considering the success they had and the fact it's only a few seasons apart I'd say they will stick to the same format for Seattle. an expansion team is suppose to suck for a couple years and build their prospect pool that way. vegas has traded away a few picks which could have increased their prospects.

4.) 28 Jan 2019 07:48:57
Go back and look at what players were available back in those old expansion drafts. Expansion teams woulda had trouble with a good AHL team. I'm not saying I want to see that., but I also don't want to see it that easy either. wonder if Quebec ever got an expansion team, Bettman would probably change back to old system lol.

5.) 28 Jan 2019 11:53:48
Ya Vegas draft rules compared to TB/ OTT was insane and they had to make 2 teams out of the players made available. 21 of 22 teams could protect 2 goalies and 14 skaters, and only exposure requirement was a goalie with 1 game played which was highly manipulated. Also Vegas being exempt is terrible imo OTT and TB hasn’t to expose players the year after their draft.

If the leafs decide they can't sign nylander before December 1st will they trade him? Hold onto him? Or leave it so late they can't trade him for a reasonable return?

TheBlackAlpaca

1.) 04 Nov 2018 04:52:53
How does it all work? If he's not signed by Dec 1st, is he lost for the year? I can't remember last time it even happened.

2.) 04 Nov 2018 07:36:05
he's not allowed to play in the NHL this season, should he not be signed by Dec 1st.

3.) 04 Nov 2018 08:52:22
Well. 2 sides playing hard. wonder who flinches first.
I'd trade him forsure. it's obvious the Leafs have enough offense. so use him for the weak parts of there game.

4.) 04 Nov 2018 14:26:35
I think we still have about 3 more weeks of hearing about it 10 times a day yet. After that who knows lol.

Now that Las Vegas is guaranteed a team. I've got a question.
How likely is it that teams I'll use Winnipeg as an example.
Tell them that we'll trade. A 2nd for a 5th and you don't select trouba.

So give up a pick in order to keep a desirable player.

TheBlackAlpaca

1.) 11 Jul 2016 23:55:01
Pretty likely tbh. I can honestly see teams that are perennial contenders with stacked rosters such as TB and CHI making these kind of deals, as they are win now, and don't want to lose their core pieces. Giving up a pick won't hurt them TOO MUCH. However, if the Vegas manager is smart, he'll make the price of the trade VERY high in order to get maximum value for the player that he wouldn't pick.

2.) 12 Jul 2016 01:03:32
it would have to be a first . I personally believe in proven over picks and would just take trouble and flip that GM the bird.

3.) 12 Jul 2016 01:59:29
See you raise an interesting point in Chicago. I wouldn't see them doing it they have shipped out a lot of high draft picks chasing and indeed winning the cup so their depleting the prospects. I'd find it more likely with teams that have a deep prospect pool that could handle one or two years without a high end prospect addition.

4.) 12 Jul 2016 02:39:41
Would that be considered tampering of some sorts? Think there would be a rule of some sorts in place for that honestly.

5.) 12 Jul 2016 02:55:11
not sure what the rules are around that, teams might not be allowed to circumvent the expansion draft like that.

6.) 12 Jul 2016 03:07:15
Colt these trades have happened in previous expansion drafts. Prices were seconds and thirds in eras where there wasn't such a premium on picks. It would he hard to get a first for a player outside the other teams top 8-10 skaters.

7.) 12 Jul 2016 03:43:22
I can see there being some shifty things going on but I know I'd just take Trouba.

8.) 12 Jul 2016 07:37:07
there'll certainly be gentleman's agreements, shall we say, amongst the GMs leading up to expansion. I'm not sure if there is any rule in place to stop obvious ones (like the example in the original post), but i can't image they'd be that blatant anyway. they'd likely be more along the lines of a useless prospect (whom the receiving team publicly says they are really high on, but everyone knows otherwise) for something worth much more than the useless prospect with the aforementioned gentleman's agreement in place that benefits the team losing the real, processed trade.

these would likely be centred around older, but still useful, players who are on good teams that were unable to protect said player because they have other more valuable assets that needed to be protected (someone like marleau may fit here) . the reason it works is because vegas gets the benefit of winning a trade, while the competing team gets to keep their older player. i can't imagine this would be done to protect a young guy (like trouba, for example) because he's young and can be a major building block on an expansion franchise and the value he brings would surely far exceed any benefit from a trade made between the two teams to allow trouba to stay with WPG, whereas the older player is of much less long-term use to vegas and the benefit of the trade could be close to what he would be worth to Vegas.

sorry if this isn't the most clear post, but i don't feel like proof reading it right now and can clarify some things later if need be.

9.) 12 Jul 2016 08:23:59
Thinking about it now it would make a ton of sense. Not for
Trouba like Shankar said but you can't have a team of 30 NHL players so taking picks from other teams would make sense. Unless I'm missing something obvious about that?

I read on today slap shot I think it was that Nashville will not honour pks no move clause.

TheBlackAlpaca

1.) 01 Jul 2016 01:30:32
Yea they decided not to, since they got him and his contract before that kicked in tomorrow July 1. They had the choice. Kinda really funny.

30 Jun 2016 00:16:03
Does subban still have a no movement clause?
For instance when Tyler Myers was traded Winnipeg decided not to honour his no move clause. Because it was not yet active

So does or did Nashville?

TheBlackAlpaca

1.) 30 Jun 2016 04:45:56
Depends on the wording of the contract. Something we won't know.

2.) 30 Jun 2016 05:26:02
Subbans no trade clause didn't kick in until July 1. Few days away.

3.) 30 Jun 2016 08:27:40
Nashville has the option to honour it according to bob Mack.

Oh my gosh Matthews averages 5 more a night. Your point being? He's not Matthews.
I said as of late. Meaning he hasn't always been a great playmaker and will likely not continue with this. He's a shooter.
Where are you getting 20 million. You've just made up a number. Is this basing Laine at 11 trouba at 9? Neither of which will happen.

A- they save cap space during their win now time. They have badish contracts they can move.
B- ya he's struggled and he's been a great playmaker of late.
C- ya he gets no minutes essentially just sits in the press box. Laine is on the second line his minutes are fine. He's 20 getting experience on the second line
D- where has it ever been said he wants to be the go to guy.
E- they get huge value keeping him.

How is Lemieux Stanley-Esque. Lemieux is probably going to be a 4th liner for life. Stanley is projected to be top 4. And before someone says he hasn't done anything. Neither had morissey at his age.
