Mtl-Eichel

Buffalo-2021 2nd, becomes a 1st if Eichel is cleared to play after surgery, plus balance of trade also dependent on Eichel having his preferred neck surgery and passing a physical to play. This allows Buffalo to come away with a 1st regardless.

Buffalo- Balance of trade is a 2023 1st, Guhle and a player to be named later (Drouin)

I like eichel as a player. but at times i wonder if there's any value going after a player that seems Moody.

Yeah Buffalo passes.

The 2021 draft is already over.

Montreal passes as well.

After Eichel's reps blasted the Sabres it's pretty obvious they won't want him in camp and a trade is going to happen soon. So somebody gets him before the surgery? What are they getting and what are they giving up for that? My deal gives them a solid pick for a him even if he never plays again. And if he does, even for year or two, A very talented player who is also a bit of an unknown, Guhle who is probably a top 4 eventually and the most sure thing to make the NHL that we have as a prospect, plus a 1st. I think that's a pretty good deal and a balance of risk for both teams.

@balsam “‘Montreal passes” yeah okay buddy lmao.

That's probably about what a healthy Eichel is worth but Buffalo wants more. A lot more. Several teams likely will roll the dice and offer more than that though still not what Buffalo is asking.

Unfortunately for my Flames Treliving is foolish enough to offer way more than he should!

I don't want Eichel in Calgary at all but if it did happen I won't be happy if costs more than this:

The Flames get full access to Eichel's medical records with time to review them and have their own doctors examine Eichel before the trade happens.

Sean Monahan and either Dillion Dube or Jakob Pelletier and the following conditional adds

1. A 2022 first round pick or prospect if Eichel gets a clean bill of health by the midpoint of next season, plays in at least half the games and scores at a rate prorated to equal 25 goals AND 60 points over a full season.

2. A 2023 first round pick or prospect if in the following year Eichel scores 30 goals OR 80 points.

Prospects instead of picks could be anyone except Zary, Coronato and Kuznetsov.

At last you're acknowledging the basic structure of my deal. The Flames need something to juice that lineup. I also understand your feelings toward taking on Eichel and the big contract hit. He hasn't seemed to provide any meaningful leadership for Buffalo, he's not healthy and he's awful expensive. He definitely fills a hole at center for the Habs if he can play though. ( MY 2021 pick should have read 2022)

I thin Montreal has to give KK a chance with more minutes and some consistent and talented wingers. He plays a pretty physical game, he has a very good shot, he plays well defensively and he makes good set up passes. His skating has improved a lot from the previous season and will hopefully continue as he grows into his body. If he's not showing what the Habs need 20 gams in they will need to look at options in the middle to make something of the 21-22 season.

Eichel's a risk. Drouin's a risk. Made perfect sense.

Why would a team take a guy who might never play again? Risk for risk. Anything else is just foolish.
