I like Raanta as a target other than his injury history he’d be a perfect guy to get. But no way Carolina trades Jarvis. Probably wouldn’t take a whole lot to get Raanta alone though.

I’m thinking a 2023-2nd or 3rd for Raanta. Niemalainen alone might do it or be close. He’s huge at 6’6 and must be over 200lbs by now and still growing. Fun guy to watch, but Oilers have Broberg and should re-sign Kulak, so they really don’t need him.

CAR makes sense as a trading partner, they swung a deal together last season and they have a good group of Finn’s. Who else might EDM be interested in from CAR for Puljujarvi!? Necas or Picks?

I think Necas could be a good fit but I don’t know if Carolina has much incentive to trade either him or Raanta. Maybe they would to get Puljujarvi? I don’t know if he has more value than Necas or not. Also I like Niemelainen as a 3rd pair D and he’ll be a lot cheaper than Kulak. Definitely could be good trade partners though.

Kulak’s been pretty inconsistent so I don’t see him getting a raise. He’s from the Edmonton area and played well here, so may like the fit and could give a home town discount. This site figures he’ll make less than $1mil.

Everyone knows the oilers need a goalie badly so they're going to wind up paying more than goalies usually go for to get a decent one.

I agree with Ebsolutely on Kulak, he'll get at least 2 million.

That's what I thought Giordano would sign for on a Team Friendly deal, he signed for just $800k x 2 years. Different ages/ situations, but you just never know what a player is willing to accept to play close to home.

This post confused me, which is easy to do.

Gio also made a lot more money than Kulak in his career. This is the time for Kulak to get a good portion of his career earnings. He might end up getting a 3 or 4 year term somewhere.

MoNix that could be slightly true to an extent but I think it’s mostly baloney. Lots of teams need a goalie and goalies are shuffling all the time. There was just a handful of goalies getting traded for 2nd/ 3rds.

Sorry @Renidrag, my focus was who would be the best trading partner for Puljujarvi which I thought initially would be CLB, but then I figured Carolina might be even better, so it should have said TO CAR. My Bad, Good Catch, Sorry for any confusion! Wish we could edit lol.
