Heard some rumours that Winnipeg Jets are interested and might have a chance in signing Jonathan Toews.
I don't know if that's a good idea at this point.
Five years ago this would be extremely good news. But now, not so much. He hasn't played in about 3 yrs. And he 37 yrs old.
At best he would be a 3rd line center now.
Maybe better than any other options Winnipeg would be able to sign.
Thoughts ?

Sign him for 1 million, plus performance bonuses. His leadership alone would be worth it.

I hope he signs with the Jets and shows the players what it takes to win a cup.

As Sosa says, a low salary with performance incentives and hopefully only for a year.

Great news! He can demonstrate what sacrifices it takes to be a winner.
Now get a trade/ promote/ sign as a free agent a good 2nd line centre, 2 big, physical, built for playoff style hockey d-men. Also an upgrade to their backup goalie would be a good move.
All this is easier said than done.

Glad to hear WPG is able to bring Toews home. Very reasonable cap hit too. I look forward to seeing him play in front of his hometown fans next season!

They’re paying him a crazy amount. Hopefully he fits in well.

EBS, he’s only getting 2M.

I think it’s an extra 2.5M after playing 60 games? Then more for playoff wins.

EBS: you are 100% correct. He can actually earn up to 5M in performance bonuses. Yikes! I hope he earns every bit and that the Jets reward their loyal fans with a championship!
