Potential Eichel trade to HABS:

What is the one thing SABRES have needed for years? Goaltending.

HABS TRADE:

Price
Kotkaniemi
Domi
1st round pick 2020 (unprotected)
2nd round pick 2020 (STL)

SABRES TRADE

Eichel
Montour

Salary wise, this trade is fine for both teams.

Buffalo finally gets a goalie, a top center prospect and a top 10 pick to build for futur.

Habs finally get a true number 1 center and help on D.

There are interesting goalie UFA's this offseason for Habs to look at.

I'm pretty sure Price has a no movement clause? He wouldn't waive for Buffalo.

2.) 15 Jun 2020 17:29:38
Sabres decline easily.

3.) 15 Jun 2020 18:16:50
Goalies aren't worth much in a trade especially when they have a high dollar, long contract going through their declining years and the rest won't get you Eichel.

4.) 15 Jun 2020 18:38:58
Price has no value, 10 mil for an above average goalie is an anchor of a contract no team would want.

5.) 16 Jun 2020 00:10:26
Buffalo declines? LMFAO wow.

There would be a riot in Montreal if all this was offered for Eichel lol he's a great player yeah but no way he's worth one of if not the best goalie in the last 20 years, 2 young top end players like kotkoniemi and Domi, plus a 2nd and a very likely top 10 pick possible lottery pick 1st. Are you insane? I know Montreal needs a center but auctioning their future to get it. Nah man.

6.) 16 Jun 2020 10:00:00
Your all joking Right! Every team in the league would want Price or any other elite goalie even at 10 Mil a year on the back end of their career. Goalies do not decline like skaters, how many elite goalies have had terrible years 2 or 3 in a row then went to the cup finals either winning or losing?

Even if Price is on the decline and I personally do not think he is he is still better than half the goalies in the league. I would rather have Price in net any day of the week over Freddy Andersen, Corey Crawford, Ben Bishop, Bobrovski, Either of the Canes goalies, Grubeur, Talbot, Smith, Markstrom, Either Jersey goalie, Merzlikins, Hart (Although he is starting to come into his own right now and will be able to steal games like Price in a year or 2), any of the 6 California goalies, and either of the Sabres goalies.

Price may be over paid by 2-4 Mil depending on who's opinion your going by but almost every team in the league would give a kings ransom to get him. Cause he can flat out steal games and series that teams like the Habs have no business being in in the first place.

Habs : kovalchuk

Pitt: 2nd round pick 2020

Pittsburgh are looking for a top 6 forward and if Habs can't get a second round pick they should just keep him.

p1015983

1.) 06 Feb 2020 21:53:00
That boat has sailed. He has done well in Montreal and it's the best place for him. The pens are working on something much bigger.

2.) 06 Feb 2020 22:07:19
I'd like to see the Canadiens re-sign Kovalchuk. Something like $8mil/ 8 years. They like big contracts for older players.

3.) 06 Feb 2020 22:20:57
La couldn't get anything for him but maybe at his reduced salary Montreal can. Maybe a playoff team that needs depth might bite. I doubt a 2nd though.

4.) 07 Feb 2020 05:49:00
Bryan little’s contract is as bad as anything on the Habs at least those older guys Habs have are still good.

5.) 07 Feb 2020 13:23:50
Nope Habby. The Jets have no contracts that can touch the boat anchors of Weber and Price. Lol.

6.) 07 Feb 2020 14:46:30
Oh yeah and I forgot about the Karl Alzner contract. 😆

Montreal is right up there with the Oilers for horribad contracts. Lol.

7.) 07 Feb 2020 18:59:08
Kovy needs to stay put in MTL. He's fit in perfectly. Case closed.

8.) 07 Feb 2020 19:22:03
Winnipeg is looking solid with that Bryan little contract. I’m sure that can only get better. The kulikov contract Was not much better than the alzner contract when it was signed. I’m sure Perreault is worth the 4 million+, what with his intangibles and 14 points. Can anyone explain why the jets would want to have Blake wheeler making over 8 million dollars until he is 38? That one has the same potential to sour on the jets as much as Carey prices contract has to burn the Canadiens. Most teams have bad contracts. You sign players that you want to keep whatever you have to. That’s how you keep them.

9.) 07 Feb 2020 20:06:10
Weber’s contract is bad for Nashville not Montreal.

10.) 07 Feb 2020 20:43:56
Lol. Nice grasping at straws Firebergevin.

Bryan Little it's a 2C and traditionally produces as one, but we can say he is being overpaid by about $1 mil if you want. Wheeler is being paid the going rate for a player of his quality and I know everyone would rather have his contract than being stuck with Weber's and Price's.

Kulikov's contract is done at the end of this year, but at least he's still an NHL quality player while Alzner is laughably being paid $4.625 mil for 2 more years after this one and hasn't been an NHL quality platter for a couple years now. So, you lose big time there because your Habs gave out a ridiculous contract length to a terrible player.

Perreault is overpaid by about $1 mil, but it's only for another year. No big deal. Whereas, Weber has a cap hit of more than $7.8 mil for another 6 years after this one and he's 34! 😆

Then you have Price who is 32, regressing very badly and being paid $10.5 mil for 6 years after this one and he isn't even a league average goalie at this point.

Montreal is far, far, far, far worse at handing out contracts than most teams (outside Edmonton) could ever hope to be.

That's why Kovalchuk at $8 mil over 8 years is actually something I could see Montreal doing given their history of bad contracts.

11.) 07 Feb 2020 21:46:21
My point is more that you pay what you pay to keep and acquire players. I admit they are bad contracts. The Habs didn’t sign the weber contract. But to assume it’s going to be bad is as ridiculous as me assuming that wheelers contract will be bad. As for price. He is our franchise goaltender.

He got paid what was required to retain him. We aren’t going to let a goaltender that won a hart trophy walk for nothing. “The Habs are notorious for handing out bad contracts”. So is every other team. It’s the nature of the league.

12.) 08 Feb 2020 00:01:36
Montreal sucks and the jets are the best joe we know lol the funny thing is they both have the same amount of points this year, and if you want to get into cap issues maybe you should consider the jets situation for next year going to be tight bud.

13.) 08 Feb 2020 04:08:15
I’ve only just remembered. It wasn’t too long ago that Winnipeg’s general manager was calling Bergevin to try and get rid of one of his terrible signings in Steve Mason. Oh how the time flies. We appreciate having armia tho.

How about

MTL : 1st round pick 2021
2nd round pick (mtl) 2020
Ryan Poeling
Paul Byron

NJ : Taylor Hall

I think this is a very fair trade for both sides, as a habs fan.

p1015983

1.) 19 Nov 2019 23:43:37
I think this is a very fair deal too, as a Jersey fan.

2.) 20 Nov 2019 05:43:39
Hall is a rental only worth a 1st.

3.) 20 Nov 2019 11:45:25
So a rental Taylor Hall is worth the same as rental Kevin Hayes? @West is best.

4.) 20 Nov 2019 18:06:25
Hayes is signed long term and hence not a rental. Completely irrelevant to rental conversations and compensations.

Rental rates for players for the past few years are a 2nd rounder at the deadline, or can be a first if traded well before the deadline. Not many teams with cap space left that are actual contenders that can take on Hall's salary and know their going to make the playoffs so as to not concede a possible lotto win.

5.) 22 Nov 2019 16:49:33
Before Hayes signed that long term deal he was traded to Winnipeg from New York as a UFA rental at the trade deadline, this was in the 2018-19 season.

Why does mtl need malkin? Why give up all that for an old player on the decline

If habs are getting a center like eichel then you can afford to trade a centre back.

So realistically

Kotkaniemi
Primeau
Romanov
16th overall pick
