Calgary Trades
Gaudreau (50% of Contract Retained)

Toronto Trades
Liljegren (AHL)
1st Round Pick 2021
2nd Round Pick 2021

Calgary at this point is nowhere near a contender and it's time to look into the future team more than what they are today, Gaudreau is one player that can bring Calgary some future assets and this Trade Proposal does that.

Toronto gets a Top LWinger who on the Matthews and Marner line would put all players to an even better level, Hyman moving down to the third line only makes the overall team better, this is a trade proposal that contending teams make like The Leafs and retooling teams like the Flames also make.

If Calgary is retaining a full 50% of Gaudreau's salary now and next season I believe they could get a bigger package. The one you're offering from Toronto is good I just feel they can get a better one especially for full retention.

I don't mind the value for Gaudreau, I just don’t know if he really fits Toronto. They already have enough superstars, it might be better to get a great player that doesn’t mind not being the star of the show.

Adding Gaudreau would make Matthews and Marner even better than they are now, you can never have enough talent and as for grit, Hyman, Simmonds gives them that upfront, to me adding Gaudreau is a domino that makes every line better, can't think of one team that would want to face that offense in the playoffs, it would be wave after wave of attack from each line.
This is the year you look to stack your team if you are the Leafs, and after watching Calgary play yesterday they should be ready to change the team some.

I wish every GM in the NHL was as determined to help the Leafs win a cup as you are Pinball.

06 Apr 2021 15:56:43
Pinball, Mtl would love to play Toronto’s offense in the playoff. This team relies heavily on they’re talent and speed to win puck battles, but they don’t forecheck with enough determination and intensity to get past the Canadiens in the playoffs.

You must be a Leaf hater to make that statement, Leaf haters always make it out of undervaluing any Trade that actually helps Toronto possibly win The Cup, was waiting to here if I change Bennett instead of Gaudreau Calgary might consider it, that's the usual I read, fact is Toronto is going for it and Calgary needs changes, trades like this happen year after year when Top Teams look to improve to win right away and struggling Teams retool or rebuild there future.
And JAndersonBPF that is just a ridiculous response that others I am sure will have enough to say about what you posted.

Im a Red Wings fan and could care less what the Leafs do to upgrade but I'm just being honest, every proposal you make is one-sided to the Leafs favor and you're not even trying to hide it. Don't get mad at me because a majority of people here disagree with your proposals and see your bias. If you could use your rationale for how this helps Calgary other than "teams that are retooling do this all the time" that would be great. But I'm betting you didn't care to think that part through because you're looking at this only from the lens of how it helps Toronto.

How does this help Calgary?

Well to start with Kerfoot is signed an extra year more than Gaudreau, and Kerfoot isn't a star player but a fringe between a bottom Top 6 and a top Bottom 6, Liljegren is a good Prospect that plays in the NHL next season and is only 21yrs old, and why would anyone look at any 1st and 2nd Round Picks as a throw in?
Draft Picks is how any Team builds there Team in the future, so to say this is a bias trade for The Leafs are actually bias against The Leafs trying to improve there Team.
My Proposal doesn't have any players that will never be in the NHL, if it did yes you could say I am bias only looking to make Toronto better, so please tell me how this doesn't help Calgary in the future?

IMO Calgary underperformed this season compared to expectations, but they're not a team looking to retool with prospects and picks. Gaudreau is on the chopping block because he has underperformed compared to expectations but I would imagine Brad Treliving would try to trade for a replacement player that will keep the Flames being competetive and try to reshape the roster he's been using.

What i'm saying is this package is an attractive offer to Buffalo/ Ottawa/ Detroit/ Anaheim who are in different rebuilding stages, but its not an attractive offer to Calgary because they're expected to perform with the roster they already have. Taking out Gaudreau will mean they have another positional need to address and that's why I'd say this isn't helping Calgary.

06 Apr 2021 18:59:23
Have you watched Calgary play from mid season last year until the Team they are now?
That Team needs a huge overhaul to be competitive again, you are right about one thing they aren't in the same position as those bottom feeder teams, but those bottom feeder teams are actually ahead of Calgary because they are rebuilding now where Calgary is in the first process of a rebuild, besides MTkachuk as a Top Player this is an aging Team even Monahan isn't the same player and I have always been a huge Monahan supporter.
Gaudreau isn't sticking around after next season and if they wait until next season to trade him they won't get much value for him as they would right now, and if they don't trade him at all he walks away as a UFA and they get nothing.
We all have our opinions on what we think happens and we will see what happens and who is right and who is wrong, 6 days to find out.

Guadreau is not a fit in Toronto he’d be 3rd line on Toronto as would hall ( yes he’s a top 10 LW in game ) Guadreau-Mathews-Marner would be awful as there is 3 skilled offensive players 1 sniper and 2 playmaker. They need to have a player like Hyman/ Foligno/ Etc who runs into the corner and gets the puck to be effective. That line would be awful at fore checking and would rely solely on possession which isn’t smart. Same thing with Nylander and Tavares. It’s really easy to tell you have never played hockey before. I’ve played competitive hockey for 16 years I’m 20 years old and ill tell you a hard nosed player is a must on a effective line.

06 Apr 2021 20:08:03
I am 35yrs older than you, and know hockey inside out, yes agreed the perfect line has a corner guy, a playmaker and a shooter (goal scorer) well Gaudreau isn't big probably smaller but he is both a playmaker who scores more goals than Marner, Matthews is the shooter and he is big enough to be a power forward, once in a while he shows that not enough but he can and should go into the corners more, and Marner is the pure playmaker, so I disagree that line wouldn't be successful it surely would imo.

LilTuzziBert said a lot of correct things. And I agree with him on majority but i like the value pinball, I like the reasons you gave too. Good trade pinball.

“It surely would in my opinion” take surely out. What cup team won with 3 soft players on their top line?

07 Apr 2021 22:38:04
I mean the pens have always had a pretty soft first line, but I do agree you need grit somewhere on a championship team.
